Kollman Rescues Stranded CatCody Heaman in Stratford

Fourteen year old student, Alisha Kollman climbed 30 feet to rescue a stranded cat today.

Tree cutters had been removing trees at Northwestern Secondary School to create a new statue in honour of their most famous student, Miranda Cook, who is known world-wide for her yodelling talent. During period two, students spied the cat peering out from a tall, hollow branch.

“Alisha just shimmied way up the tree with her school bag and came down with a little cat thumping around inside it,”

INSERT YOUR HEADLINE HERELocation and Date

Open with one sentence that expresses what happened. It describes the main event.

Tell the rest of the story here. This is where you will fill in the details of who, what, when, where and how.

Be sure to include specific details from the story that help you tell the ENTIRE story.

Remain objective: only report the “facts” gathered from the story.

As a reporter, you might want to include “quotes” from characters in the story. You might, for example, interview Sam from the grocery store or Detective Noonan.

The idea is to summarize the story in the style of a newspaper article. You can be creative through your “interviews” with characters.

Be sure to write in complete sentences. If you would like to use this paper as a draft and type your article at home, a template will be on my website.
