Generation One

1. Jakob I OHLHAUSEN was born on 4 Jun 1858 in Jakobsonstal, Braila, Romania and was baptized on June

9th. He was confirmed on 18 May 1873 in Bortscheag, Bessarabia. He married Rosina Nast on 7 Nov 1880 in

Alt-Elft, Bessarabia. During the period between 1880 and 1930 Jakob I Ohlhausen was a farmer and a Mayor of

Sofiewka, however his biggest challenge was as a member of parliament in Bucharest from 1919-22 after he was

elected from the district of Ismal as a member of the Bessarabian farmers party. During this time period Romania

introduced the much-hated expropriation laws where no farm was allowed to be larger than 100 hectares. The

land taken by the government was then given to the poor. At the time Jakob had accumulated quite a bit of land

which fell under this new law. He was a religious man and the Bible group met regularly at his house.

Jakob married Katharina Eberhardt on 3 Jan 1883 in Alt-Elft, Bessarabia, and to this union 5 children were born.

He then married Christine (Quast) Ruge, daughter of Johann Quast and Christine Schneider, on 29 Jun 1904 in

Alt-Elft, Bessarabia, and to this union 4 children were born. Also Christine brought the following children into

the marriage: Christine Ruge (who m. Johannes Lust); Immanuel Ruge (who m. Herta Unterseher); Maria Ruge

(who m. Otto Unterseher).

In 1919 he married Karoline (Brisske) Mittelstaedt in Tarutinao, Bessarabia, and no children were born to this

union, however 3 girls and 5 boys came into this marriage, Meta, Helene, Elsa, Gustav, Friedrich, Reinhard,

Wilhelm, Immanuel. (Note: the boys did not actually move into the family with the mother but the girls did.).

At the age of 77 Jakob married Katherina (Siewert) Heidinger on 31 Oct 1935 in Alt-Elft, Bessarabia. He died

on 19 Apr 1948 in Dettingen unter der Teck, Wuerttemberg, at age 89.

There were no children of Jakob I Ohlhausen and Rosina Nast.

May 23, 1887. He married Martha Maria Unterseher, daughter of Christian II Unterseher and Eva Katharina

Hahn, on 21 Feb 1911 in Tarutino, Bessarabia. He had 161 ha of land according to Fragebogen -- also owned a

mill in 1940 in Unter-Albota, Bessarabia. He died on 21 May 1971 in Schwaebish Hall at age 84. He was buried

in Schwaebish Hall.
