ProcessTwo main process-

1. multistage flash desalination- is a water desalination process that distills sea water by changing a portion of the water into steam in multiple stages of heat exchangers. Multi-stage flash distillation plants produce 85% of all desalinated water in the world.

2. Reverse Osmosis- is the passage or diffusion of water or other solvents through a semipermeable membrane that blocks the passage of dissolved solutes nearly 15% of desalinated sea water comes from a reverse osmosis plant

Desalinization Solving Problems

• Desalinization is a popular solution for water problems in North Africa and in the Middle East.

• It provides fresh water to many areas where there is a growing thirst or did not have much fresh water in the first place.

• A desalinization plant can produce roughly 98 million gallons of water a year.

• Is a major help to countries like Israel who are struggling to find new water sources.

Pros and Cons of Desalinization

Pros• If properly designed,

desalination plants that use RO can consistently deliver high-quality water to consumers.

• Even more importantly, the quantity of water stored in the ocean is so vast it's virtually inexhaustible, so desalination is a completely drought-proof source of water.

Cons• Desalination is an energy-

hungry process • Desalination plants can

often be expensive to build
