Spring 2012
Welcome
Marketing & CommunicationsDerby LIVE
We’ve got plenty to keep the whole family entertained this season, indoors and outside.
For a festive experience you won’t forget, get your skates on at our outdoor real IceRink. Or, for some family fun that doesn’t require you to get your winter woolies on,head to the Assembly Rooms for comedy capers and lots of laughs at this year’s panto,Dick Whittington. If it’s something big, friendly and giant you’re looking for, The BFG atDerby Theatre will fit the bill perfectly!
In the new year, we’re excited to be welcoming back two kids’ TV favourites. Bob TheBuilder brings music, dance and, of course, plenty of fixing; whilst Peppa Pig and herbrother George go on a treasure hunt.
Science Museum Live on Tour will unleash children’s inner Einstein, but they’ll be toobusy exclaiming ‘wow – cool!’ at the dangerous demonstrations to realise it’s educational. Who says learning can’t be fun?
I hope you and your family enjoy the season!

Late one night, Sophie is snatched from her bed bythe BFG, who takes her back to his cave in GiantCountry. The BFG – Big Friendly Giant – is a dream-blowing giant who blows lovely dreams intothe bedrooms of sleeping children. The two soon become the best of friends, feasting on disgusteroussnozzcumbers and making whizzpoppers together.
But catasterous disastrophe strikes. The other giantsare not nearly so nice. Their favourite pastime isfeasting each night on human beans, and they haveset their sights on their next meal – the chillders ofEngland. Sophie and the BFG quickly make plans tosave them, enlisting help in their battle against theother giants.
Derby LIVE’s brand new production of this classicRoald Dahl tale promises to delight and enthral audiences this Christmas – from little chillders to Big Friendly Grandpas!

friends Meet The Cast Night: Fri 16 Dec
It’s time to hook up with our hero Dick Whittingtonand his Cat for a road trip to pantoland where the journey from start to finish will be packed with laughout loud comedy capers, magical moments of pantomime nonsense and plenty of audience participation!
With a twinkle in his eyes, West End star PAUL NICHOLAS will be pacing into pantoland as theevil King Rat, proving he’s no longer Just GoodFriends as he plans, plots and ploys to destroy Dick’sdreams. Flying in to star alongside him is Birds of aFeather’s LINDA ROBSON as Fairy Bow Bells.
Joining in the tomfoolery and teasing with his comic capers will be MIKE ‘SQUEAKY’ McCLEANas Idle Jack and returning for a second year willbe Hi-5’s LUKE ROBERTS as Dick and Derby-favourite, IAN GOOD as Sarah the Cook.
All the ingredients are in place for a fabulous serving of festive cheer in this traditional pantomimeadventure where anything can happen... oh yes it can!
