Summary
ICMP Source Quench generation by routers already deprecated by RFC 1812
Security implications discussed in RFC 5927 (ICMP attacks against TCP)
No TCP implementation (that I know of) currently honors ICMP Source Quenches
At the time, there was consensus in tcpm wg to formally deprecate ICMP Source Quench messages. It was suggested that this should be pursued in tsvwg.
This I-D does that: It deprecates reaction to ICMP Source Quench messages (requests that nodes ignore them)
Moving forward
Adopt as wg item?
