The success of matching census data (using Record of Visit) with Building Points layer
GRAND BAHAMA SUPERVISORY DISTRICTS 2010
Utilized Technology <New Providence Project>
Post Census:- Field mapping The GIS unit began the GPS mapping exercise on New Providence island in 2012. Presently: Team of 3-4 persons using GPS handhelds to capture building locations Road /Street files are being updated in field/office
Completion date Summer 2014
New Providence Island
<New Providence Project> Supervisory District
Mt. Moriah
Strengths and Limitations Strengths • Mapping skills improved • Faster method of updating shapefiles • Able to produce quality maps • Production of user friendly visual results • Income generating Limitations • Standardization •No permanent Supervisory District Boundary Cuts •Proper Address System •Equipment malfunctions • Shortage of field workers • Expense (travel to other islands) • Transportation shortage (Grand Bahama Project) • Imagery Outdated • Expert Assistant
Long Term Progress Post-Enumeration
Create Permanent Boundaries Lines •Completion of GPS mapping project Build a Census database (join census data to maps) Invest in technology (Google earth Pro etc), Expert Assistant
Post-Enumeration Data Analysis
• Analysis of the results with Desktop GIS • Development of maps for dissemination to the public
