Chapter 1: Situational Analysis of Village 1.1. Introduction
Village Profile: - a) Basaera is a village panchayat located in the Panipat district of Haryana state,India. The latitude 29.1910858 and longitude 77.09529700000009 are the geocoordinate of the Basaera. The surrounding nearby villages and its distance from Basaera are Karkoli 1.1 KM , Mahawati 2.9 KM , Dehra 3.0 KM , Budhanpur 4.3 KM , Hathwala 4.4 KM , Dikadla 4.9 KM , Haldana 5.1 KM ,

1.2 Population
Basahra is a medium size village located in Samalkha of Panipat district, Haryana with total 268
families residing. The Basahra village has population of 1098 of which 584 are males while 514 are
females as per Population Census 2011. In Basahra village population of children with age 0-6 is 176
which makes up 16.03 % of total population of village. Average Sex Ratio of Basahra village is 880
which is higher than Haryana state average of 879. Child Sex Ratio for the Basahra as per census is
676, lower than Haryana average of 834

1.3 Temperature and RainfallJanuary is the coldest month when mean daily maximum temperature is 20.1˚С and mean daily temperature is 6.7˚С while May and June are the hottest month with mean daily temperature reaches 39˚С and sometimes maximum temperature may go above 45˚. The region receives rainfall mainly under the influence of southwest monsoon from July to September. Around 70 percent rainfall is received during this season and the remaining rainfall is received during December to February. There is 31 rainy days.
1.5 Agriculture land. The total geographical area in 1096 agricultural land is 2700. Wheat, rice, jowar, bajra are major crops grown in the village. Balana total geographical area is 2707 hectare. Irrigated land is 2700. No unirrigated land

1.6 Educational Institutions and Literacy Rate The essence of Human Resource Development is education, which plays a significant and remedial role in balancing the socio-economic framework of the country..there is one govt.primary School is the village. mid-day meal is provided in the school. Basahra village has lower literacy rate compared to Haryana. In 2011, literacy rate of Basahra village was 72.13 % compared to 75.55 % of Haryana. In Basahra Male literacy stands at 84.76 % while female literacy rate was 58.47 %.
