Major Initiatives• Landfill Expansion
− Construction of Cell 4 will provide 7 to 9 years of additional landfill life.
− The vertical expansion of the current footprint will provide 8 to 10 years of additional landfill life.
• Scalehouse AutomationThe upgrade of the landfill scalehouse operation to an automated system for serving customers.
• Recycling RateCharles County obtained a 46% recycling rate in 2017. The State mandates a recycling rate of 35% for populations over 150,000.
• Curbside Recycling Expansion534 homes have been added to the service area in FY19. Currently 46,444 homes receive curbside recycling collection.
• ComplianceInspection and repair of stormwater facilities and dam outfall structures.
