TEACHING
The Physiology Course for Medical Students was again taught during theWinter and Spring quarters, with the last two weeks of the year devoted to thecombined course in Endocrinology. A considerable amount of time has beendevoted during the year to planning for the new curriculum. .A tentative outlineof the core course in physiology which will be taught in one six-weeks moduleplus a part of a second module has been compiled by the staff of this department. Before'this schedule was proposed a complete outline of cour se content for sucha course was compiled. Weare planning now to teach physiology as a block, rather than concomitantly with Biochemistry, during the coming academic yearin order to obtain some experience with this type of teaching.

Graduatecourseswent on tothesemester system last year and thisrequired rearranging of our schedule. We now have two graduate coursesscheduled for each semester. rotating over a two-year basis. During thefall semester Dr. Thompson's course on Transport and Permeability. andDl. Loofbourrow's course on Physiology of the Nervous System were
offered. During the sprin~erm Dr. Rhodes' course on Gastroenterology
was offered. ,Since Dr. Su~iva!1 was on leave, his course on Renal ElectrolyteExcretion was not present~d. This year has been another very productive onefrom the standpoint of our graduate pro~ram. Since the last report MartinKramen, D~nnis Waring. Gary Bond' and Dr. Paul Hensleigh have completedwork for the Ph. D. degree. Three additional candidates. Conrad Johanson.Carol Hendley, and Dr. Arlo Hermreck are completing their thesis and willreceive their Ph. D. degrees in the next commencement.
At the invitation of Dr. Frank T. Y. Liu, A ssociate Professor and
Chairman of Physiology at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School ofDentistry. Kansas City, Missouri. Drs. Brown. Thompson. Trank. Clancy.Loofbourrow. and Johnson participated in teaching at the Dental College.
