The Depar tment o f Phys i cs , Osman ia
University,Hyderabad takes the pleasure of inviting you
to participate, in “National Conference on Materials for
Energy and Environment - Its Development and th thApplications” being held from 29 to 30 April 2018
(NCMfEE-2018), at the Department of Physics,
University College of Science, Osmania University,
Hyderabad
All our lives are influenced to a considerable extent
by whether and on what terms we have access to
energy. Our welfare is founded on the availability of
electricity and heat at affordable prices in homes,
commerce and industry. The transportation of goods
and people is just as important – and no less energy-
intensive. Our energy consumption is based on finite
natural resources and carries consequences for
health and the environment. The energy research
conducted pursues the goal of providing a basic
understanding of technologies that guarantee a secure
and sustainable energy supply. One key focus is efficient
processes for the conversion of renewable energies into
usable end energy, such as electricity, heat or fuel.
Researchers are working on precisely these processes
to ensure that new renewables are not just friendly to
the environment, but also our wallets. Hence the
intended goals of the NCMfEE -2018 is to
Focus on applications to energy, environment and materials science
Includes papers by top authors of international repute
Encourage and inspire young researchers to undertake innovative research in this area of importance
Osmania University
Department of Physics
(University with Potential for Excellence and Accredited by NAAC with 'A+' Grade in third cycle)
The Osmania University, established in 1918, is one of the oldest learning centers in India. Eversince it's inception, the University showed remarkable progress, sustained and integrated development of all disciplines.
Through multi-faceted range of programs in the faculties of Arts, Humanities, Basic Sciences, Social Sciences, Law, Engineering, Technology, Pharmacy, Commerce and Business Management with corporate infrastructure and excellent faculty.
The University has carved itself a niche for academic Excellence, Osmania University is accredited with Grade 'A+' by NAAC in the third cycle of reaccreditation and UGC has accorded a status of University with Potential for Excellence to Osmania University in 2012.
(UGC-SAP & DST-FIST Sponsored Department)
The Department of Physics was started, along with the inception of Osmania University, in the year 1918. Presently the department offers M.Sc (Physics) with the specializations in Electronics & Instrumentation, Materials science, Solid State Physics and Nano Science, and M.Sc.(Applied Electronics) and PG Diploma in Radiological Physics. The Constituent Colleges of the University offers specializations in Bio-Physics, Condensed Matter Physics, Electronics& Communication systems and Microwaves at PG level. The Department of Physics is recognized under UGC-SAP and DST-FIST.Besides this funding from UGC, the individual staff members have been attracting financial support for their research projects from various organizations like DST, DRDO, DAE, NSC-UGC, BRNS etc. The Department is a nodal department in UGC University with potential for excellence focused area research (UGC-UPE-FAR) program. The Department is also participating in DST Purse Program of the University
The research facilities availbe in the department include UV spectrometer, DSC, X-ray Diffractometer, RF sputtering system, Scanning Electron Microscope and B.H loop tracer. The thrust areas of research in the Department of Physics are Solid State Physics and Materials Science for over three decades.
