Undergraduate education 3600 studenter each year (about 900 full time
students) Contribute in 14 programs of study, a total of
150 courses starts per academic year. Single subject courses, distance courses,
summer courses and web based courses. Everything from introductory courses for
beginners to specialist courses. 260 computer work stations for the students.

Research 100 full-time employed PhD students 25 professors Many of the professors have industrial

Research collaboration Three Research Centers are connected to the department ASTEC -(Advanced Software Technology) ARTES (A network for Real-Time research and Education in
Sweden) PSCI (Parallel and Scientific Computing Institute) And also two centers of excellence: The National Res. School of Mathematics & Comp. Science UPPMAX (Uppsala Multidiciplinary Center for Advanced
Computational Science).
The Centre for Image Analysis is also associated with the IT-department. This unit is a co-operation between the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and Uppsala University doing research in digital image analysis.

The IT-department today 221 employees (120 PhD students included) This means that we are the second largest
department at Uppsala University. Our work constitutes 5 % of the total
undergraduate education and research at Uppsala University.
We are the most complete department:
