(Annexed Herewith). The qualification of Veterinary Doctors working at Veterinary Clinic / facilities having Ultrasound Machines and other equipment / technologies capable of determination of sex of foetus or sex selection, which are as follows - 1) Veterinary doctors must hold recognised degree in Veterinary Sciences as per Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984 with short term training in Radiology. 2) No objection certificate from District Head of Animal Husbandry / Veterinary Services Department where the~clinic / diagnostic centres located. All such veterinary centres have to follow all the provisions of the PC&PNDT Act 1994 and Rules framed thereunder, including ban on portability of machine. However, if any veterinary institution is required to use portable machine in Mobile Medical Unit (MMU), they should appraise the District Appropriate Authority for considering grant of registration of machine / institute in totality as per the Act/Rules. The centres are required to maintain all records and to send report by s" of every month, even if the report is nil. All such centres have to be inspected by concerned State / District Appropriate Authorities, National Inspection and Monitoring Committee, State / District Inspection and Monitoring Committee. You are requested to communicate with the district Head of Animal Husbandry / Veterinary Departments to get complete records of such veterinary centres where the USG machine are used and other details of such Veterinary doctors for your course of action as directed by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of.India. Sir/ Madam,

I am directed to say that Ministry of Health and Family has receivedrepresentations seeking clarification with regard to qualification ofVeterinary Doctors using Ultrasound Machines and other technology whichis capable of determination of sex of foetus. The matter was examined in theMinistry in consultation with the Veterinary Council of India.

2. The Veterinary Council of India has prescribed qualification for suchveterinary doctors, working at the veterinary clinics/facilities havingUltrasound Machines and other equipment/technologies capable ofundertaking determination of sex of foetus or sex selection, which are asfollows -

(i) Such veterinary doctors must hold recognized degree in VeterinarySciences as included in First Schedule/Second Schedule of theIndian Veterinary Council Act, 1984 with short term training inRadiology.

(ii) No objection certificate from District Head of AnimalHusbandry /Veterinary Services Department, by whatsoever name itis called In respective State, where these clinics/diagnostic centreslocated. - -

(iii) District Head of concerned state shall also keep complete records ofsuch clinics along with name and other details of such veterinarydoctors.

3. All such centres have to followall the provisions of the PC & PNDTAct,1994 and Rules framed thereunder, including ban on portability of machine.However, if any veterinary institution is required to use portable machine in

5. Copy of the reference PC & PNDTAct and Rules is also being enclosedfor dissemination along with the guidelines above.
