From Director’s Desk

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the

world.” ― Nelson Mandela

It gives me immense satisfaction that next issue of ECE Newsletter is ready

for the readers. A college Newsletter mirrors the success story of an institution and

act as a great medium to reach out to the outer world. It reflects upon the persis-

tent and committed efforts made by faculty, staff and students for taking the institu-

tion one step ahead. Continuing the same tradition, this issue of Nexus’12, reflects

upon commendable contribution made by all members of PIET family in their

fields of expertise as well as for the overall growth of the college. I congratulate

everyone for their bit of service for the institution and do expect the same in times

to come. I also congratulate the editorial team for bringing out present issue of

newsletter. Wish you good luck!

Wishing you all the best.

A One day Seminar on “NANO-Structured Semiconductor Devices “was

organized by Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering

on 1st Sept,2017. The Seminar was organized for B.Tech ECE students &

research scholar from IIT Allahabad.

This Seminar provides an opportunity to share ideas among experienced

T&E professionals regarding designing concept of this new technology

and requirements, test capabilities, VLSI design techniques and services.

The event was coordinated with the dedicated efforts of Mr. Arun Kumar

Rana (AP, ECE) and Mr. Vishal Jain (AP, ECE) under the guidance of

Mrs Swati Gupta, (HOD, ECE).

Prof.(Dr.) K.K Paliwal (Director, PIET) congratulated the coordinating

team for organizing such kind of workshops and also motivated the stu-

dents for the skill enhancement in future technologies.

Engineer’s Day Celebration @ PIET

On the occasion of 156th birthday of Bharat Ratna Shri Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, En-

gineer’s Day was celebrated at college campus. Sep. 15 is observed as Engineer’s Day in

India as mark of Respect to Bharat Ratna Shri Mokshagundam Visvesvarya who was born

this day in1860 and died on April 14, 1962.“Engineering is not merely knowing and being

knowledgeable; engineering is not merely analysis; engineering is not merely the posses-

sion of the capacity to get elegant solutions to non-existent engineering problems; engi-

neering is practicing the art of the organized forcing of technological change.”

On this day, Dr. K.K Paliwal (Director, PIET), Ms. Swati Gupta (HOD, ECE), &

Faculties from department were present to motivate and guide the students. Ms. Swati

Gupta addressed the students and spoke about greatness of Shri Mokshagundam Visves-

varya and explained tremendous developments taking place in science, technology and en-

gineering world over and the knowledge has become the new currency of national eco-

nomics. She further added Engineer’s Day must be a platform to demonstrate the student

projects and engineers should be curious and try to go to the depth of the problems and re-

solve the problems as early as possible. She also explained the principles of Shri Mok-

shagundam Visvesvarya which includes integrity, hard work, honesty and dedication are

some of the things we have to follow.

On this occasion various technical events were conducted by departments.

Teacher’s Day Celebration @ PIET

Students of ECE department celebrated and gave surprise party to their Teachers

on special day – “Teacher's Day” for undertaken to honor teachers for their sin-

cere efforts to impart knowledge to their students. For the celebration of Teacher's

Day students of ECE final Year conveyed the message that we cared for our

teachers and just for them we celebrating this festival for the recognition of the

devotion in which teachers undertake the responsibility of educating a child aca-

demically as well as morally. On this day students dressed up like their teachers

and performed different cultural activities, sang songs, poems in respect of their

teachers. Some students taught their juniors in the same way as their teachers do.

As the day passed, the students performed different activities that are performed

by the teachers. Teachers sit in the classes acting like students, reliving the time,

when they themselves were students. After that there was a Cake Cutting Session

by the teachers and students gave title to their teachers for showing the respect.

This created an understanding between the teachers and their students. This festi-

val brought out a healthy interaction between students and teachers.

In the last Dr. K.K. Paliwa (Director, PIET) shared her views on this festival and

told the purpose of celebrating this festival. Ms. Swati Gupta– HOD ECE blessed

and provide thanks to students for their efforts and celebrating this festival in a

good manner

Blue Eyes Technology The blue eyes technology depends upon the interac-

tion between a device and the human being, as we

exchange the information with everyone and interact

with everyone likewise this applied science can in-

teract with the human beings in a similar manner. An

example for explaining about the blue eyes technol-

ogy is as follows, at the time of your going to bed

your mobile device automatically says you the good night and we have such amazing features

in the blue eyes technology.

The general and basic idea of this technology is very simple and it is that the human beings are

going to make a computer that has the power of sensitivity and the sensitivity is the power of

human beings too. In real the blue eyes technology works on the sensors, Bluetooth, and the

central unit; the total system of the blue eyes applied science consists of two main parts and

they are as follows:

1)Data acquisition unit (DAU)

2)Central system unit (CSU)

Types of Emotional Sensors:- The emotional sensors are of three type sand they are as fol-

lows:

1)Emotional sensors for hands

2)Emotional sensors for eyes

3)Emotional sensors for voice

The devices used as emotional sensors for the hands are as follows:

Emotion mouse:- The emotion mouse is implemented on the genuine

mouse and it includes a set of sensors along with the infrared detectors

and temperature sensitive chips. The data obtained from emotion mouse is about the behav-

ior and physiological information, the behavior includes the actions like a movement of the

mouse, frequency of clicking the button and the pressure of fingers when a person clicks the

button. The physiological information includes the heart rate, a temperature of the skin, skin

electricity electromyography activity

The devices used as emotional sensors for the hands are as follows:

1) The Expression glasses

2) The Magic pointing

3) The Eye tracking

BLUE-EYES BENEFITS: :-

1) Visual attention monitoring (eye motility analysis)

2) Physiological condition monitoring

3) Operator's position detection

4) Real-time user-defined alarm triggering

Application of Blue Eye Technology:-

1) At power plant control rooms

2) At captain bridges

3) At flight control centers
