First established as a Dental Prac1ce in 1903, Peter R. Jones & Associates is now the largest dental prac1ce in Pontefract and stands tall as one of the oldest serving dental prac1ces in the area. The prac1ce has grown over the years from a single handed surgery, to one that now provides an extensive range of treatments by seven full 1me den1sts. Our prac1ce is commiIed to postgraduate training and this year we welcome two new graduates, Dr Hiba AlDiwani and Dr Peter Robbins and we see the departure of Dr Christopher Marston who goes on to take a hospital post in oral surgery at Pinderfields General Hospital. 2010 has seen some significant changes for the prac1ce. Our crossinfec1on facili1es have been en1rely refurbished, bringing our standards up to date with the latest guidelines for op1mum levels of care. We have also refurbished and re equipped Mrs House’s surgery as well as installed a new modern seventh surgery. With these developments, we are pleased to have Dr Sachin Soni join our prac1ce on a full 1me basis having completed his founda1on year with us. Dr Fayaz Ladak has con1nued to focus on Cosme1c Den1stry and has this year been awarded his MSc in Clinical Cosme1c Restora1ve Den1stry, as well as a Diploma in Aesthe1c Medicine. He has also gained accredita1on to offer the INMAN aligner at P.R.Jones and now offers treatment for crowded and ‘wonky’ teeth. Dr Ladak is also in the process of comple1ng Implant training and soon will offer Implants at our prac1ce. As they o\en say, there is no beIer cure than preven1on. With increased further training amongst our nurses, we have been offering preventa1ve fluoride treatment to all children. Throughout the prac1ce there has been much aIen1on drawn towards maintenance of good oral hygiene and preven1on of decay. This year hopefully will see Sarah Agar, one of our long standing nurses, join Laurie Mason, in becoming qualified to provide fluoride treatments, preventa1ve advice, oral hygiene and diet guidance to our pa1ents. Earlier this year, our prac1ce was approved as a member of the BDA Good Prac1ce scheme for the third year running. This proves that our prac1ce is commiIed to working to standards set by our professions’ na1onal associa1on. We aim to con1nue to provide the best treatment to the highest standards to all our pa1ents. Tooth Whitening
Teeth can be restored to their natural colour or enhanced by tooth whitening. At our prac1ce we offer two main treatment op1ons and several different systems to achieve the desired result. For the busy individual or someone wan1ng an instant result, power whitening can be carried out in surgery using the Zoom2! Chairside Whitening System, as seen on the popular Extreme Makeover TV programme.
This treatment can be completed in as liIle as 45 to 60 minutes, producing literally an instant result! Power whitening may be used on it’s own or can be used to enhance the results of a smile makeover, realignment of teeth or facial aesthe1c treatment.
The alterna1ve is a take-‐home whitening system. Impressions are taken to fabricate custom whitening trays to fit your mouth. A small amount of whitening gel is placed in the tray and this is then worn overnight. A\er just one to two weeks your teeth will gradually lighten. Again, when prescribed by a den1st, this procedure is safe, very effec1ve and can produce excellent results.

So How Does it Work?
The Inman Aligner is a clear plas1c retainer with two spring loaded aligning bars that fit easily over the front four teeth. Unlike a regular brace, the Inman Aligner provides a constant gentle pressure on the teeth, easing them back into place far more quickly
Apart from its aesthe1c benefits, the Inman Aligner is easy to use and can be inserted and removed at any 1me, allowing ea1ng, brushing (and kissing) to con1nue as normal. Once teeth have moved to the desired posi1on, a very discreet retainer holds them in place, so they remain in their new posi1on.
During the first consulta1on, an impression is made of the teeth and in the second, teeth are smoothed to make room for movement and the aligner fiIed. For the dura1on of the treatment bi-‐weekly visits are required to review and adjust the aligner.
