THE DENTAL SCHOOL PREPARATION COURSE PROVIDES ANINTENSIVE EXPERIENCE IN PRECLINICAL EXERCISES ANDHANDS-ON PROCEDURES USING DENTSIM® TECHNOLOGY.
The Dental School Preparation Course is a 20-hour intensive program designed to prepare studentsfor the field of Dentistry. This program consists of a series of hands-on pre-clinical exercises andlaboratory procedures as well as lectures given byuniversity faculty members, experts in their fieldsof teaching, research and practice. Additionally,students will have the opportunity to work withDentSim®, the multi-million dollar advanced simulation technology and most advanced pre-clinical training tool to date.

What is this course about?
This is a university-based dental school preparation course. It is a 2½ day (20-hour) program. Students attend lectures and perform dental procedures as one would in dental school.
With increased one-on-one learning from facultyand mentors, this intensive weekend course isbeneficial for students seeking a betterunderstanding of dental school and the dentalprofession. Develop experience and discoverdentistry through the University of Minnesota’sSchool of Dentistry.
Each course is limited to 30 right-handed and2 left-handed students due to equipmentavailability. Registration is offered on a first-come, first-serve basis.

This weekend course is designed forhigh school or college students in apre-dentistry track with plans to applyto dental school in the future andwould like to experience life as a dentalstudent.* The information and hands-on experience is most appropriate forindividuals interested in a dental careeras a dentist or a dental therapist.*Please note: completion of this coursedoes NOT guarantee acceptance intodental school.

What do we do?
Students attending the course will learngeneral information about dentistry,including terms, nomenclature, andprocedures. Faculty members offerpresentations on complete denturefabrication, fixed prosthodontics andimplant dentistry. Additionally, studentswill acquire hands-on experience incavity preparation, crown preparation,diagnostic impression, cast fabrication,diagnostic wax up, and bleaching trayfabrication. Opportunities are availableto tour the dental school facilities andmeet with faculty and dental students.
