Implants afford a safe and cost effective option for

replacingmissingteeth.

A Dental Implant replaces the tooth root and builds a stable

foundation for a crown, bridge or replacement solutions for a

toothless jaw. Once inserted into position, it looks, feels, and

Once the implant is surgically placed, the bone bondswith the titanium (a

processcalled ‘integration’),creatingastrong foundation forartificial teeth.

Small posts are then attached to the implant, which protrude through the

gums.Thesepostsprovidestableanchorsfortheartificialreplacementteeth.

Whenthisprocess iscomplete,anabutment isattachedtothe implantthat

willconnectthefinalcrowntocompletetheprocedure.Animplantcrownis

not susceptible to cavities butmay develop complications if oral hygiene is

notmaintainedconsistentlyovertime.

left for three to sixmonths toheal and integratewith the jawbone.Permanent teethwereonly fitted

once the implantswere integrated in the bone. During this healing period, temporary dentureswere

Insomecases,itmaybenecessarytoimprovethevolumeofboneusingaprocedurecalledbonegrafting.

Thematerialusedforthesetypesofproceduresiseithersyntheticorthepatientsbonewhichisharvested

within the oral cavity during the implant procedure or as a separate procedure performed prior to

implantplacement.

ZygomaticImplants–GraftlessImplantSolutionForseverelyresorbedorbonedeficientupperjawBoneatrophyisanaturalphenomenonthatoccursaftertheextractionof

teeth, and which is exacerbated over time due to wearing a denture.

Patients with advanced atrophy of the jaw may not have the minimum

bone volume required to have dental implants. These patients have

traditionally been deemed unfit for conventional dental implants.

Zygomatic implantshavebecomeprovenalternativeforthetreatmentof

Zygomaticimplantsareplacedintheupperjawwhenthereisinsufficient

Following extraction of teeth

(if needed), the jawbone is

reshapedandtheimplantsare

immediately placed. Once the

implants are inserted, the

wound is closed with

dissolvablesutures.

Fabricationofthe

temporaryfixedbridge

Following insertion of the

dental implant, a fixed bridge

is fabricated and immediately

inserted. This temporary

bridge allows the patients to

regain his chewing capacity

and start functioning

immediatelyaftersurgery.

Fabricationanddeliveryof

thefinalbridge

Four months later, the

temporary bridge is replaced

withthefinalbridge.

Followup

The first follow-up visit is usually 7 to10 days after surgery. Dr. Daniel

willremoveanyresidualstichesandwillgooverhygieneinstructions.We

will showyouseveralmethods,whichwillallowyou tocleanyour teeth

andmaintaingoodoralhealth.

During this time, you might feel that the teeth are solid and fully

functional,butitremainsimportanttofollowasoftdiet(pasta,eggs,etc)

forthefirst3monthstomakesurethattheImplantshealproperly.

Once Dr. Daniel has confirmed that the implants have integrated

successfully(usuallyduringthe4-monthreview),youcanstarteatingall

typesoffood.Regularmaintenanceisimportantbutquiteeasy.

ReviewandMaintenance

4monthsafterthesurgeryhasbeencompleted,wewillhaveareviewof

yourmouth tomakesure the implantshave integratedsuccessfullywith

theboneandfine-tuneyourteethifrequired.Itisalsoatthistimethatwe

review the bridgewith the laboratory if need be. This review and any

laboratory adjustments are part of the package and an extension of our

greatservicetoyou.

IVSEDATIONSedationdentistryisoftenreferredtoasaservicethatisonly

forpatientswithdentalanxiety.Although thatmaybepartly

true, some patients just prefer not to be awake during the

procedure.
