Dear Ms. Gokovi,
We would like to cordially invite you to what promises to be a very heartwarming event of
2014 and it is with great pleasure I inform you that the venue for 4th annual African NAFCA
2014 will be the legendary Saban Theatre of Beverly Hills California.

a celebrated Pianist, we would want you to join us as one of our VIP Guests and also

The Nollywood & African Film Critics’ Awards, commonly known as The African NAFCA, are
U.S. awards for achievements in the film industry and The NAFCA Special Honors are
awarded to recognize outstanding individuals whose professional careers have been marked
by extraordinary personal and professional accomplishments. The awards were first
presented in 2011 at the RTP Sheraton Imperial Hotel in Durham North Carolina, USA. The
NAFCA Special Honors were presented for the first time in 2011 to President Nelson
Mandela. Recipients of this award in subsequent years include President Yahya Jammeh of
The Gambia, President Jonathan E. Goodluck and President Ellen J. Sirleaf. Presentations of
the African NAFCA and The NAFCA Special Honors are made yearly during the second
weekend in September. The African NAFCA is designed to globally promote African Cinema
and culture. The prestigious Nollywood & African Film Critics' Awards (African NAFCA) are
awards of merit and are considered the first African film and honorary awards to be held in
Hollywood.
African –NAFCA 2014 promises to be a heart-warming and prestigious award of 2014 as we
continue to promote the rich African culture and heritage through films. Arrangements are
on so as to have large press coverage and media adverts for the occasion by our over 400
media partners. African NAFCA will be responsible for your accommodation and ground
transportation during the award. We are aware you would need a visiting visa to the United
States and thus would need a letter of invitation; please use this letter for that purpose.
Please feel free to contact us should you have any question and we hope to see you before
September 13th the day of the award
Respectfully Yours,

ABOUT SABAN THEATRE:
Originally named the Fox Wilshire, opened its doors on September 19, 1930. Designed by
renowned theater architect S. Charles Lee, the Fox Wilshire building serves as an interesting
example of Lee's early Art Deco style. With its rich plaster work and heavy sculpture, this
theatre is reminiscent of Lee's other early work like the Baroque masterpiece The Los
Angeles Theater and the Tower. Lee would later become famous for his clean simple Art
Deco lines with theaters like the Bruin and the Academy Theater. History2Fox West Coast
Theaters built Saban Theatre to house their first run feature films. For the first 50 years of
its life, it served as one of the premiere movie palaces in Los Angeles and has hosted

numerous premieres and special events. In November 1953, the premiere of "How to Marry
A Millionaire" starring Marilyn Monroe and Lauren Bacall.
On Christmas Day of that year Walt Disney exhibited its new "Grand Canyonscope" - the
first Donald Duck cartoon in Cinemascope which ran with the studio's classic feature
"20,000 Leagues Under the Sea". Other notable events include 1960's special screening of
"GI Blues" starring Elvis and attended by Ronald Reagan and the 1970's exclusive
engagement of the film "Woodstock". History3In 1981 the Wilshire Theatre was renovated
and converted to a stage venue.
For a number of years, the venue has hosted numerous theater productions and concerts
including Billy Idol, Laurie Anderson, Mijares, Richard Pryor, Spandau Ballet, Kavert/Poogy,
The National Ballet of Spain and A Mighty Wind, Billy Crystal's "700 Sundays" among
others. Now named Saban Theatre is open for theatrical rentals, concerts, television
shoots, parties and more. It has seen many exciting productions including Billy Crystal's
"700 Sundays," Chris Botti Live in Concert featuring Sting and Paula Cole, The Australian
Pink Floyd Show and HBO's Def Comedy Jam featuring Dave Chappelle.
In 2012, the theatre was listed in the National Register for Historic Places. On May 8, 2013,
the theatre was declared landmark #12 on the Beverly Hills Register of Historic Properties.
Our Moment This is the moment we have been waiting for in Nollywood. The legendary Saban Theatre
has agreed to host the 4th Nollywood and African Film Critics’ Awards also known as the
African Oscars on the 13th of September 2014. Commenting on the historical agreement,
Dr. Victor Olatoye said; “This is history in the making because this is the first African film
award to be held at this legendary American Theater in the heart of Beverly Hills, also the
first African Film Award to make it to the movie capital of the world, Hollywood. This year’s
award in Hollywood will be our biggest to date and with long list of VIP guests from around
the globe to grace this historic occasion, including A list African movie stars, Hollywood,
Ambassadors, political figures, musicians, dignitaries and over 1500 Nollywood fans from
across the globe" Our guest will witness the honoring of noble men and women of Africa as
we present them with the coveted golden NAFCA trophies. Saban Theatre seats about 1900
people and we are just as excited as the people at the Legendary Saba Theater and it is an
honor to become part of the history of this iconic and historic Beverly Hills landmark as we
celebrate their 83rd anniversary with them on the 13th of September. Choosing this venue
and moving the African Oscars-NAFCA to Hollywood reflects the vision the African Oscars for
the African Cinema. Looking back at the first award in 2011 at a hotel ballroom, Carolina
Theater in 2012, Warner Theatre 2013 and now we are going to the heart of Beverly Hills; it
is fair to say we are moving the African Cinema forward.
