Carer Rock

To raise awareness of carers and the valuable role they fulfil in our local community we are

taking part in the Kindness (Hidden) Rocks project; where people paint rocks and hide them

in their local parks and community locations.

If you have found one of our rocks – CONGRATLUATIONS! – help us to continue to raise

awareness in the community by posting a photo on our facebook page, we have pinned a

post to the top titled carers rocks, which you can add your photo to as a comment and also

add to your local hidden rocks group.

Help Yourself to all

Bracknell Forest has to offer Local community groups and voluntary organisations have come together in partnership with the council to create Bracknell Forest Help Yourself, an innovative community website that everyone can use to help them stay fit, healthy and connected to their community.

The creation of the new platform has been led by the council’s adult social care, health and housing team to help ensure people of all ages and abilities are able to access information on the activities and support available locally to meet their needs and interests. It is a comprehensive online guide so people can easily find things to do, organisations which can support them or simply help them to meet like-minded people.

Features include a community map so residents can find events and social groups available locally, a wellbeing planner to allow people to identify how they can improve their wellbeing and a search tool for those looking for a particular activity.

Bracknell Forest Help Yourself also supports people with social care needs as information is available on agencies which provide support at home, businesses that can deliver meals and registered care homes for people who no longer feel able to live in their own home.

The website has been launched as part of the council’s transformation programme which aims to empower residents to take control of their health and wellbeing. It also allows local voluntary groups and charities to showcase how they can support members of the community and increase participation.

Bracknell Forest Help Yourself will replace the council’s current information hub (iHub) as the go-to place for information on what’s on in your local area, however it is not intended to be a council run and managed platform. Instead, the site will be a resource for all Bracknell Forest residents and local community groups, the voluntary and private sector to provide or access information on services or activities in the borough.

There are more than 400 organisations currently listed on Help Yourself with more to be added over time. Visit the Bracknell Forest Help Yourself website: https://helpyourself.bracknell-forest.gov.uk/kb5/bracknell/asch/home.page

Carer’s training- One-off Stress Management Session

Dr Natalie Almond (Clinical Psychologist) Memory Clinic

Many people experience periods of stress triggered by what is currently happening in their life.

Living with, loving and caring for someone with dementia can have many challenges and rewards. We recognise that at

some points throughout this journey it can be stressful. This session aims to help you be prepared for the stressful

times if and when they arise.

In this one off session (2 hours) we discuss what stress is, and help you to recognise the symptoms of stress. We also

show you a variety of strategies to help you relax and manage your stress that you can take away from the session. We

help you to recognise what strategies you have used in the past to manage your stress, and what you are doing current-

ly and can continue to do in the future to help keep your stress levels low.

For further information please contact Natalie Almond Tel: 01344 823220
