The Venue With a rich and diverse history, Storey Hall is an iconic piece of Melbourne architechture. At the heart of RMIT’s city campus, it is used for ceremonies, concerts, conferences, performances, exhibitions and examinations, and will set a spectacular scene for the eighth Green Gown Awards Australasia gala dinner and award ceremony - the “green tie” highlight of the annual sustainability calendar!

Storey Hall represents a remarkable accomplishment in the architecture of embodied meaning. In 1996 it won the RAIA (Vic Chapter) Victorian Architecture Medal and RAIA National Award for Interiors.

Originally built by the Hibernian Australasian Catholic Benefit Society as a meeting hall in 1887, the building was an important symbol of social and political protest. It has been the venue of suffrage rallies, St Patrick’s Day marches, classical and rock concerts and - legend has it - a performance by Dame Nellie Melba. Today’s powerful purple and green colours recall the hall’s earlier life as a place for feminist debate and Catholic activism.

We now look forward adding the celebration of our sectors achivements and innovations in sustainability to this iconic landmark’s long and colourful history.

Take advantage of this unique opportunity to associate your organisation with the leading sustainability Awards in Australasia. There is no better time to link your brand with global sustainability excellence!
