Attendants
The first demonstration was focused on explaining the ECUVal project to the most important
textile and textile-chemical associations. Representatives of leather wastewater treatment
were also invited.
• Lluís Alier, TEXFOR-Confederación de la Industria Textil.
• Elisabet Valls, IDR-Igualada (wastewater treatment plant of leather cluster).
• Ferrán Guanyabens, IDR-Igualada (wastewater treatment plant of leather cluster).
• Carlos Aguilar, Asociación Española de Químicos y Coloristas Textiles (AEQCT).
• Josep Simón, Asociación Española de Químicos y Coloristas Textiles (AEQCT).
• Andrés Borao, Asociación Española de Químicos y Coloristas Textiles (AEQCT).
• Clàudia Aguilar, Asociación Española de Químicos y Coloristas Textiles (AEQCT).
In annex 1 can be consulted the attendance confirmation sheet.
The second demonstration, scheduled for December 2017, will focus on informing to
companies potential end-users of the ECUVal system.

1- Welcome to the attendees
Àlex Grau (manager of GRAUSA) and Carmen Gutiérrez (project coordinator) opened the
demonstration event.
At the beginning of the event, all the attendees visited the ECUVal prototype and a sample of
the initial wastewater (before the treatment) was taken. Then, the system was turned on.
4
2- Presentation of ECUVal technology
First of all, Carmen Gutiérrez explained the main objectives of the ECUVal project and how
the results obtained at laboratory scale have enabled to design and build the ECUVal
prototype. Then, an explanation related to the basic concepts of the electrochemical methods
applied as a base of the ECUVal system to treat textile wastewater was presented.
The ECUVal was presented and its two possible applications (ECUVal system to either
decolourised or water and salt reuse) were discussed. Also, the results of different tests carried
out with the ECUVal system were shown. The presentation can be consulted in Annex 2.
Finally, Alex Grau, explained the main advantages of the ECUVal treatment from the point of
view of the end-user.
5
At the end of the presentation, a discussion was held between attendees and partners of the
project. All attendees expressed their interest in the ECUVal treatment. The textile associations
asked for more detailed information to be published in their journal and webpage. The
representatives of IDR-Igualada were interested in further collaboration for the application of
the ECUVal treatment to leather wastewater.
3- Demonstration of ECUVal pilot plant in GRAU S.A. facilities
To finish the event, the attendees visited the ECUVal system and they could see how the
system was able to decolourise the sample initially collected.
7
Other results obtained with the ECUVal system at different intensities were also presented:
Results of the reuse step were also shown to the attendees:
