On account of World Ocean day , students
were sensitized on the need to be protected
from the various problems the oceans are facing. Photo

ways that they can do at an individual level and
make their change count.
2.WORD WHEEL CHALLENGE Competition
REINFORCING VOCABULARY BY MANIPULATING LETTERS AND WORDS
Word wheel puzzles are always fun to do.
The students made as many words as they
could from the letters in the wheel, using
each letter in each word only once. The
students used their analyzing, synthesizing Photo
and problem solving skills to construct the
words as per the given set of letters.
Puzzles were enjoyed by all the students.
“A book is a gift, you can open again and again”.
It is our attempt to help our students enhance
their reading skills. Our grade 5 children

of reading books. One of the books that
they read was” "Taranauts" from the book
set of Read and Grow.

"Active learning" happens when students engage with material, participate in the
class, and collaborate with each other. At DPS our students don’t just listen and
memorize; instead, they demonstrate Learning by doing has encouraged our
students to think out of the box. It is this child centered approach where our
students participate rigorously and bring about efficient learning experiences.
1. Maths activity- ‘Mock Market’
This activity was conducted to give students a feel of how business is
transacted and goods are sold / bought. The students took turns playing the role
of merchants and customers. They got a hands-on learning experience of
calculating their profit/loss, making bills and transacting with money.
2. English Activity -‘Tell Me’ : ‘Tell Me’ was a thought provoking activity
conducted in class. The motive was to encourage students to share their
views in an effective manner. The children were supported to put forth
their ideas on ‘ Let’s save our Nature’. They were able to render their
thoughts effectively.
CLASSROOM SCOOP
3. Circle Time: At DPS, we practice Circle Time with students as a tool for
improving relationships and behavior .It’s a time for listening, developing
attention span, promote in goral communication and learning new concepts
and skills. The whole class takes part in Circle Time at the same time,
usually led by their teacher aiming to encourage unity, respect, turn-
taking and working together towards a shared vision.
“It’s not whether you get knocked down; it’s whether you get
up.” – Vince Lombardi, former football player, coach and executive in the
National Football League (NFL)
This is exactly the attitude that DPS wants their students to look forth with. To instill
this spirit, the SPORTS ACTIVITY: Tennis Ball Cricket was conducted on 20th June 19.
The students participated with great zeal and excitement.

Dear Parents,
I was reading through the below article and thought of sharing it with you.
With the birth of every child, a parent is born. It’s a metamorphosis that a parent goes
through. It is a stepping stone to the world of growing up, where not only does the child
evolve, but we too, as parents grow too. It’s a journey of joy, a Journey of discovery, a
journey of mixed emotions, a journey of expectations.
We are today a breed of conscious parents—who want to do best for their child, provide
the best and ensure the child grows to be the best! But when it comes to ‘best’, who judges
it? Who sets the parameters for it? Are our expectations weighing down the child? This
blog makes you think!
Are our children always trying to please us?
The bonding and attachment between a child and parent continues throughout a child’s life,
but it changes through times in behavior and intensity. Because of the child-parent
relationship, a child is extremely sensitive to what pleases his parents. This relationship is
a key to a child’s positive behavior. A parent communicates desires or reinforcements
verbally and non-verbally, until a child knows what exactly his or her parent wants.
Is this fair on the child where to please the parental expectations, he does or does not do
something, rather than for his own interest?
Managing expectations
Expectations should be reasonable and not generate anxiety and a very little satisfaction.
1) Where we go wrong is the fact that our expectations are mainly based upon
achievements rather than effort. Ensure your child enjoys what he does rather than just
focus on getting on top of the crowd.
FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
2) Unrealistic expectations can be harmful. There should be a maintained balance between
desired results and achievable results so that the self-esteem of the child does not take a
hit.
3) Parental goal is not to have a control or dictate a child’s goal, but to guide the child in
setting goals. Parental expectations are a cornerstone of discipline in children. When aired
with loving supportive attitude, setting clear behavioral and academic expectations for
children, they can help them learn social skills and learn manners.
4) However for expectations to lead to positive behavior, parental rules shouldn’t gag the
child-it should always be developmentally appropriate. Thus parents need to be mature
themselves to understand the intangible needs of the children.
5) Do not push the child to a level where it cannot be taken in any more
6) Love your child, praise him or her amply.
7) Lets imbibe in them that they must do things with love and interest, then only will it
help in a better future, including academics.
Let us as parents free our minds of societal pressures, our egos and create a humane
human being.
