DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL GHAZIABAD INTERNATIONAL AUGUST 2018 CLASS - V ASSEMBLY When we cooperate and work together we can often achieve much greater things, more easily. Class V Daisy conducted an assembly on Cooperation which started with "Sarv Dharam Prathna and English prayer followed by the thought of the day and vocabulary word. A mono act stressing on the importance of collaborative working and a short story to instill values of cooperation was also presented. Students also sang a song on Polygons and shared information on National Sports Day followed by a short Quiz on Asian games, 2018. To understand the need of keeping our surroundings clean the oath on Swachhta Pakhwada and its significance was taken up. A dance performance by grade 1 students to mark the occasion of Janmasthami that enthralled the audience. CLUBS – JOY OF LEARNING DPSGI believes that all the concepts cannot be taught in the classroom hence it organizes various clubs that provide better opportunities to the students for an overall development. During this month’s club activities, Dramatics club students learnt actions and expressions, while Music club students learnt various cords on guitar. Information on Swach Bharat Pakhwada and Each one-Teach one task was undertaken by Community Connect Club, wherein they spread awareness about cleanliness and taught the helpers in the school premises. The STEM club students used different techniques to create interesting things like shadow play, helicopter, paper bag etc. In Western and Indian dance, students learnt various steps and expressions while through Zumba and also enjoyed exercises with music. Students got a chance to express their opinion and improve their presentation skills in the Debate Club. Sculpture club students tried their hand at sculpture and learnt to create relief work using frames, while students learnt to make cards, pen holders etc. in the Best Out of Waste Club. Students also learn various recipes and make yummy dishes in the Flameless Cooking club.

SARVANAAMA Students of grade 4 lotus actively engaged in activity based on pronoun (Sarvnaama) in Hindi where they worked in groups and created various charts to mention types and examples of pronoun. They also framed sentences on pronouns.

KNOWING YOURSELF The students of Grade 5 learnt about development, growth, changes in families and their responsibilities towards self and society in Theme 2 – Who we are. They inquired into the changes experienced by people at different stages and how these affect their sense of self-worth. They prepared a timeline on the growth they observed in themselves from their childhood till now and also included the behavioral changes they have noticed in themselves. The students also gathered information about brain and its parts. They made a well-labelled clay model of the brain to better understand its functioning.

FUN WITH TABLES Having ‘conceptual understanding’ means we know why and how something works and not just ‘how to do it’ Students of class 3 Daisy were taught table of 14 through different strategies and activities. Groups of 3 students were made through the table of 14, and students kept busy with various activities like array method, grouping numbers, skip counting, number line, equal groups, and on-line table dodging game etc. Reflection time and worksheet completion was also done for stabilization of knowledge.

MULTIPLICATION The use of mathematics is very important among school and an activity on multiplication was conducted in Grade 4 where students presented multiplication in three different ways i.e. collage making, mind map and role play. They presented properties of multiplication, simple multiplication, lattice multiplication and word stories using different ways.

PATTERNS Multiplication and pattern were taught to class III students through project work where students were able to find pattern, colour pattern, multiplication pattern, and multiplication facts in specially designed worksheets. Students coloured the digits according to the tables using different colours for different tables.

PRONOUN PATCH Pronouns were taught to class IV through an activity in which students used different types of pronouns to form sentences. The creativity was well observed during the activity. They presented their sentences in the form of beautiful flowers.

RAKSHABANDHAN Our pre-primary tiny tots celebrated Rakshabandhan with the guard and supervisor bhaiyas. Students came in a traditional attire and also brought sweets. They tied handmade Rakhi to the guard and supervisor bhaiya’s wrist and received chocolates as a token of love.

SQUARE SHAPE & ENGLISH RHYME RECITATION COMPETITION

STARZ students did various activities related to the shape ‘Square’ as they made square shaped Toy trains, Robots, Photo

frames, Gifts etc. enhancing their Fine Motor skills. They also participated in a Recitation competition and came prepared with rhymes on flowers, animals, fruits & vegetables, mother, body parts etc. The eye catching props added icing to the cake.

CREATIVE EXPRESSION The students of grade 4 and 5 of DPSGI presented their creativity and drawing skills in art competition “Creative Expression’ which provided an opportunity to our budding artists to freely present their imagination on paper.

FESTINOBEATS – 2108 DPSG International organized Festinobeats it annual mother toddler extravaganza on 5th August, 2018. The tiny tots from Pre-Schools of Ghaziabad participated in the event along with their mothers. The programme began with lighting of the lamp followed by felicitation of the guests by Principal Anita Sethi. The students participated in group dance, fashion show, talent show and selfie competition with their mothers.

‘ROLE PLAY ON FAMOUS EXPLORERS’ Students of grade 4 participated in a ‘Role Play’ on famous explorers. They portrayed themselves as famous explorers and spoke about their experiences and discoveries. Vasco Da Gama, Marco Polo, Christopher Columbus, Captain James Cook and many other explorers came to life as students wore costumes and carried props to support their roles.

TEEJ CELEBRATIONS

The tiny tots of STARZ, celebrated Teej with full enthusiasm as they swung on decorated swings and they had fun applying heena on their hands. They also made paper flowers with Happy Teej written on them and did finger printing as well. They danced to the tunes of traditional Teej songs and the whole environment was full of festivity and zeal.

VISIT TO THE MILK FACTORY In association with ‘The Times of India Daily’, the school organized a visit to the Ananda Milk Factory at Pilkhuwa, Hapur Road for students of class VI. They were familiarized with the several processes and machinery used for production and manufacturing of various dairy products. Mr. Radhey Shyam Dixit, Chairman of Gopaljee Ananda, along with his team, welcomed the students and answered their queries regarding the germination of the idea and the successful entrepreneurship. The children were awed with the intricacy and sophistication of the factory and on the way back reflected on their learning.

ORANGE DAY WEEK STARZ Orange day week was celebrated with students participating in different activities designed to challenge their thinking and develop their Linguistic skill, Cognitive and Fine motor skills.

On day 1 Tiny tots learned a rhyme on ORANGE and the spelling as well. On day 2 students watched the movie THE

STORY OF TIBETAN, and took orange crayons as a take away. On day 3 they participated in a kitchen activity in which

they made orange tang. on day 4 students came dressed in shades of vibrant orange and walked around campus shining

bright. Teachers taught them about health benefits of oranges and they got a very beautiful JACK-O-LANTERN as a take

away.

SOCIAL SCIENCE WEEK Social Science week was celebrated where students were engaged in various inter house and inter class activities through out the week. Day 1 of this week started with a role play on National Leaders by class 1, where the students came dressed up as different national leaders and spoke few lines about them. Class 2 watched a video on independence and Class 3 was involved in a poster making competitions depicting various festivals of India. Class 4 was involved in a group discussion on the topic – “Problems unite us, religion divides us” followed by a pledge on humanity. Class 5 also participated in a group discussion on the topic – “Being a responsible citizen”. Day 2 of this week started with Class 1 watching a video on independence followed by attempting a worksheet. Class 2 and 3 was engaged in a role play on monuments of India and Class 4 and 5 watched a video on independence followed by a discussion and pledge. On Day 3 Class 1 participated in a drawing competition while Class 2 engaged in a Word Search on Festivals of India. Class 3 enjoyed a crossword on Freedom Fighters. Class 4 and 5 participated in an inter-house competition conference among 8 countries namely India, China, France, Australia, Spain, U.S.A, Germany and Japan on the topic Preserving Heritage. Satluj house bagged the first position followed by Cauvery in the second and Yamuna and Ganga in the third. On day 4 Class 1 participated in a Quiz on National Symbols. Class 2 was engaged in a drawing competition while Class 3 enjoyed a video on Freedom Fighters followed by a worksheet on the same. Class 4 enjoyed a relay race on freedom fighters while Class 5 participated in an inter-class competition of creating a Timeline on Freedom struggle of Indian, Russian, American and French revolution.

SOCIAL SCIENCE WEEK - STARZ

During the Social Sciences Week STARZ students participated in different activities designed to challenge their thinking

and develop their Fine motor skills.

On Day 1 Tiny tots did vegetable printing on the national flag to develop their fine motor skill.

ON Day 2 they participated in a fancy dress competition in which they dressed up as various freedom fighters of India. On

Day 3- Children enjoyed an animated movie on Independence day and on Day 4– They were given colouring worksheet

on National symbols of India wherein they had the opportunity to learn and to be creative at the same time.

STROKES OF COLOUR - 2018 DPSG International organized a painting competition on 19th August, 2018 in an effort to provide a canvas to the thoughts and expressions of budding artists. Over 70 children of all age groups and some 20 parents came together on Sunday morning to let loose their imagination and paint the morning away. The painters were divided in three categories and each was given a separate topic. The enthusiasm and the vivid strokes of colour brightened up the school atmosphere as the participants produced some truly beautiful paintings. The winners were felicitated with certificates and prizes.

SATLEJ HOUSE ASSEMBLY

To inculcate the feeling of harmony and peace an assembly was organized to commemorate 'Hiroshima Day’. The assembly started with the Sarv Dharam Pratharna followed by news headlines and thought of the day. This was followed by informative speech about Hiroshima Day which included the cause and the loss due to the two bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Students took a pledge not to support destruction and to work for peace and harmony. A moral story on peace was also presented.

CLUB UPDATE CAS Club students were made aware of the Youth Day. They were explained the responsibilities and expectations of the society from the youth. They were given responsibility to investigate two problem areas related to the youth living with NGOs and suggest ways to resolve them Prakriti Mahotsav” was celebrated as a part of the CBSE campaign ‘Mission Green School’ where students of Green Brigade club planted trees in the school campus. They named the trees after the martyr as a mark of respect for their sacrifices and promised to care for them.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION The school celebrated the 72ndIndependence Day with flag hoisting and a tribute to martyrs who laid down their lives so

that we may breathe free.

The Principal Anita Sethi along with the Coordinators and the Head Boy and Head Girl hoisted the tricolor in the school

football field. This was followed by a class presentation by Class VII titled ‘Bhagat – Aazadi ka Deewana’ wherein the

students enacted the major events from the life of Saheed Bhagat Singh and highlighted is contribution to the cause of

freedom. Scholar badges for class VI students for session 2017-18 were also awarded to meritorious students in the presence

of parents.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION AT KAVI NAGAR

The Residents Welfare Association of H Block Kavi Nagar celebrated the 72nd Independence Day with a befitting tribute

to martyrs presented by the students of DPSG International. The students of class VII put up a theatrical performance titled

‘Bhagat – Aazadi Ka Deewana’ wherein the students enacted the major events from the life of Saheed Bhagat Singh. The

students also presented a Patriotic song and a group dance. The office bearers of the association and the Block officers

appreciated the programme and distributed sweets to the students.

VISIT TO GOETHE INSTITUTE MAX MUELLER BHAVAN DPSG International believes in giving new opportunities to its students to help them explore their true potential. German students of class VI visited the Goethe Institute Max Mueller Bhavan for a workshop “Spricht mit Einstein”. The workshop conducted by Ms. Kavita Chhabra, the Project Manager Schools: Partners for the Future and her members. The workshop began with the introduction followed by a puppet show based on the life of Einstein and a game in German which helped the students practice their German. The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and were able to practice their listening, reading, vocabulary and speaking skills.

SWACHCH BHARAT PROGRAM BY DPSG INTERNATIONAL The school organized a Swach Bharat program at Panchsheel Primrose which started with sensitizing young minds towards importance of clean country and safe through a Nukkad Natak on the theme Swachch Bharat. The students also shared the importance of keeping the surroundings and the country clean which was followed by a quiz for children.

MOTHER DAUGHTER PROGRAMME A Mother Daughter Programme was organized for the mothers of girls of classes VI-VIII. Dr Anshika Agarwal, MBBS, DGO, the guest speaker on the occasion is an MBBS and a fellow of IMACGP and the founder member of Hapur Menopausal Society. During the session Dr Anshika focused on adolescence and other related issues. She spoke extensively about

ABHIVYAKTI - 2018 DPSG International students participated in the Annual Literary fest Abhivyakti – 2018 organized by Adharsheela Global

School. Our students won Runner Up position in Erudite and Cuisine de France and brought laurels to the school. The

students were felicitated with trophies and certificates.

REPORT- INNOVATIVE SCIENCE EXHIBITION

Science is a systematic enterprise that builds and organizes knowledge in the form of explanations and predictions about

nature and the universe. To develop scientific thinking, students participated in Innovation Science Exhibition held at DPSG

Meerut Road on 4th August 2018. The students showcased their talent by presenting innovative models in different fields of

science and technology. Lavish Daksh of class IX stood third in senior category. He presented his innovation as ‘Frigit - Smart

cooling system’ used to solve problems related to heating and cooling of resources. His innovation was appreciated by the

judges and is now selected for state level.

SOCIAL SCIENCE WEEK In keeping with the patriotic fervour of August, Social Science Week was celebrated from 20th to 24th August 2018. The week started off with the Inter House Quiz Competition for Classes IX-XII on the topic ‘The Indian Freedom Movement’. The participants and the audience had a great time coming up with the correct answers where each team tried to beat the others in the buzzer round and the rapid-fire round. Yamuna House stood first while Sutlej put up a tough fight to secure the second position. In the Inter House Patriotic Song Competition for Classes VI- VIII the environment was charged with a feeling of patriotism and Soumika Agarwal of Sutlej House bagged the 1st position with Malavika Vashishth of Yamuna House at the 2nd position. In the Inter Class Elocution Competition on ‘Pollution – Any Solution?’ and ‘Go Green—Go Clean’, Aditri Narula and Soumika Agarwal of Class 8A bagged the 1st and 2nd positions respectively while Yash Tyagi of Class VI A secured the 3rd position.

SPONTANIA 2018

DPSG International hosted Spontania 2018, its annual creative, visual and performing arts fest on 4th August 2018. Over

450 students from 14 schools participated in various events and vied for the top honours in theater, sculpture, music, dance

and yoga. The participants presented a colourful and diverse picture of Indian culture and tradition through their

presentations.

The overall trophy was bagged by DPSG International who passed it on to Gurukul-The School as per tradition.

FSSI WORKSHOP

With the simple but ambitious goal of “Be the change you want to see” students of DPSG International attended a workshop

organized by FSSI (FOUNDATION FOR GLOCAL SCIENCE INITIATIVES), an organization committed to nurturing

science talent in youth. Mr Piyush Madhav motivated the children to make innovative projects & think differently. Mr

Anmol Gupta, representative from Gurukul Gyan emphasized on the need to explore robotics as a career option.

INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY FAIR

Students of Class XII attended a university fair held at DPSG Meerut Road where they attended workshops designed with

special focus on careers and college opportunities and to help them identify diverse career options and appropriate higher

education routes which would enable them to determine the steps they need to take to equip themselves in this competitive

scenario. 60+ universities of international repute participated in the fair giving the students a chance to interact with their

representatives. It was an enriching experience for the students.

SEMINAR BY NICS

NISC conducted a seminar on 1st August, updating the students of classes XI and XII about Architecture Entrance Caching

in India. The key resource person Ms. Shivali Bhatnagar informed the students that Architecture is much sought-after career

at par with engineering and medical and preparing for entrance for the same requires strategic planning. She guided them

about the procedure of exam and gave them tips to qualify for the top architectural colleges like SPA, Delhi, SPA, Bhopal,

CEPT Ahmedabad, and NIT Nagpur

CYBER SECURITY AND ETHICAL HACKING WORKSHOP

DPSG International organized an interactive session and workshop on Cyber security and Ethical Hacking for the students

of classes IX -XII. Mr. Yashashvi Kumar, Application Security Trainer from Hacketh organization highlighted the benefits

of Ethical Hacking and clarified the doubts of the students regarding Hacking. He also explained ways to hack and crack

passwords, Steganography, Message encryption and decryption. He further gave the tips on being safe in the Cyber world.

It was a very technical and beneficial session for the students.

YOTHOPIA - 2018

DPSG International organized its annual Inter School Commerce Fest ‘Yothopia – 2018’ in which over 12 school from

Ghaziabad region participated. The students of class XI-XII vied with each other for top honours in events like Tag-o-

Packet, Commerce Quiz, Nukkad Natak, and Ups and Downs. Principal Anita Sethi welcomed the participants and stressed

on the need to participate in such competitions to broaden one’s horizons and put theoretical knowledge to practical test. Dr.

S.K. Dube Professor IMS College was a special guest on the occasion. The winners were felicitated with Trophies and

certificates. The overall trophy was awarded to Ch. Chhabil Das Public School.

CAREER COUNSELLING BY JITIN CHAWLA

A Career Counselling Session by the renowned Career and Educational Counsellors Mr. Jitin Chawla and Mr. Ritesh Jain

was organized for parents and students of classes IX -XII. During the session Mr. Chawla and Mr. Jain discussed in detail

about various new and off beat career options along with the traditional choices available for students and the importance

of selecting a career based on one’s personality, skill, interests and aptitude. The interactive session kept the audience

RJs, Actuarial Science etc. as viable career options. He also talked about the courses available in foreign universities and

career options in different countries. Psychometric test was also conducted for the students of classes IX-XI on 16thAugust,

2018 to evaluate the attitude, aptitude, personality and interest for choosing the appropriate career path. This will be

followed by personal counselling sessions for all students along with their parents to guide them in making informed choices

regarding their careers and streams.

3rd INTER SCHOOL 7A SIDE FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

The school organized the 3rd Inter School 7A Side Football Tournament which saw the participation of over 45 teams in 3

categories. The teams vied for top honours in U-14, U-16, and U-18 categories. The qualifying rounds were held on 16 August

2018 and the semi-final and finals were held on 18 and 19th August 2018 respectively. In the U-14 Boys category DPS

Indirapuram bagged the top honours with DDPS Sanjay Nagar taking up the 2nd place. In the U-16 Boys category also DPS

Indirapuram emerged winners and KDB School had to settle for the 2nd place. DPSG Meerut Road won the 1st place in the

U-18 Girls category and Ryan International stood second. The winners were felicitated with trophies and medals.

NUKKAD NATAK A fun filled evening was organized at River Heights, Rajnagar Extension where our students presented a Nukkad Natak on the importance of clean surroundings. An interesting and informative quiz on Environment and Pollution was also held along with various fun games. Residents also participated in musical chairs and other one-minute fun games. The school’s efforts in spreading awareness for a clean and pollution free environment were appreciated by all residents.
