The Moreno Valley Unified School District received a recognition on June 13, 2015 which

read “2015 Exemplary Practice in Parent Engagement Award, MVUSD Spanish PELI

(Parents Training Parents) at the Riverside County Family Engagement and Leadership

Conference. This is a joint effort from 23rd District PTA and RCOE.

El Distrito Unificado Escolar de Moreno Valley recibió un reconocimiento el 13 de junio de

2015 que lee "2015 Práctica Ejemplar un reconocimiento de participación de padres, MVUSD

PELI en español (Iniciativa de Liderazgo para la Participación de Padres) en la Conferencia del

Condado de Riverside Participación de Familia y Liderazgo. Este es un esfuerzo en conjunto

con el Distrito 23 de PTA y el Condado Educativo de Riverside.

Su Presidenta Habla/Your President Speaks...

Es increíble que tan rápido ha llegado este ciclo esco-lar 2015-2016, realmente me siento muy emociona-da ya que nuestro distrito escolar de Moreno Valley ha recibido grandes reco-nocimientos a nivel estatal y nacional. Les agradesco a todos ustedes por el gran compromiso que han ad-quirido al ser padres invo-lucrados en la educación de sus hijos y adquirir una responsabilidad más al ser voluntarios en sus escue-las y en nuestro distrito; ustedes ahora se encuen-

tran en el camino del co-nocimiento de nuestro sistema educativo ya que conocerán más a fondo cual es trabajo que está realizando MVUSD y del cual formamos parte: el equipo de grandes profe-sionales de Dra. White y personal de los diferentes departamentos, las escue-las, los padres de DELAC, la mesa educativa, los pa-dres embajadores y la co-munidad. Al igual todos nosotros obtendremos gran información de talle-res y clases para padres,

ferias de carreras, tutorías para los estudiantes, clu-bes literarios, al igual va-liosa información que la secretaría de educación, RCOE, PTA y diferentes colegios y universidades nos proporcionarán. 1. Incentívelos a diseñar los objetivos y prioridades. Tener una idea de lo que quie-

ren lograr, donde quieren terminar y lo que es importante para ellos antes de que co-

mience el caos les ayuda a tener un año proactivo.

2. Ayúdeles a organizarse. ¡Un planificador diario, carpetas de organización y un área

de estudio limpio son una necesidad!

3. Aliéntelos a participar con los profesores y maestros. Nunca se es demasiado

joven para empezar a establecer enlaces sociales, así que ¿por qué no empezar a

hacer conexiones significativas que pueden ayudar a largo plazo?

4. Enséñeles a comunicar sus emociones y dificultades. Si ellos están teniendo

dificultades en la escuela, que no tengan miedo de pedir y recibir ayuda de profesores

y tutores. ¡Para eso están ahí!

5. Dígales que es bueno aprender de los errores. Que no deje que un error lo inca-

pacite. Más bien, adquirir experiencia de ello y verlo simplemente como un trampolín

hacia su meta.

6. Ayúdelos a establecer una ética de trabajo y determinación con otras tareas.

Aprendiendo a ser dedicado y responsable a través de trabajos de verano y otras acti-

vidades en el hogar pueden transmitir fácilmente el modo que su estudiante ve su edu-

cación.

7. Visualice el panorama completo con ellos. No tengan vergüenza de hablar con su

hijo acerca del por qué los asuntos escolares son importantes y a donde podría levar-

los eventualmente.

8. Explíqueles la realidad de lo que sería la vida sin escuela. La comprensión de la

realidad de que los niños en algunas partes del mundo no pueden asistir a la escuela,

y oyendo las consecuencias de esta falta de educación, puede incentivar a su estu-

diante a ser agradecidos y muy trabajador.

9. Asegúrese de que no hay que olvidar que la vida social y aficiones son impor-

tantes. A pesar del caos que el año escolar pueda traer, es importante disponer un

tiempo para las relaciones significativas que te rodea y participar en las cosas

que te hacen feliz.

10. Enséñelos cómo involucrarse. Asistir a la escuela es mucho más gratificante

cuando están involucrados y tienen el espíritu escolar. Se pasa rápido, así que

aprovéchalo lo mejor que pueda!.

11. Enséñeles la importancia de no compararse con los demás. No permita

que comparen las clases de otros estudiantes toman, las calificaciones que

otros estudiantes obtienen o los amigos de otros estudiantes que determinen la

felicidad de su hijo. Cada estudiante está en un camino diferente, y ninguno de

ellos es totalmente correcto o incorrecto.

12. Motívalos a no posponer las cosas. Esto puede ser mortal. Enseñe a sus

alumnos buenos hábitos como hacer las tareas directamente después de día

escolar, quitando el peso de sus hombros para el resto de la noche.

13. Recordarles que es importante comer bien, hacer ejercicio y dormir. ¡Es

muy importante cuidar su cuerpo! Cuando los alimentos, el ejercicio y el sueño

son puestos en peligro, afecta a todas las otras partes de su vida.

14. Enséñeles que está bien hacer preguntas. No tenga miedo de la curiosidad y

la indagación. Aprenda de los que te rodean, y tratar de ampliar su conocimien-

to todos los días.

15. Diles que aprovechen las oportunidades. Los jóvenes estudiantes tienen un

sinfín de oportunidades. Incentive a su hijo a inscribirse en clases extras, tomar

una excursión adicional y unirse al club, porque nunca se sabe a dónde podría

llevarlo.

16. Recuérdelos que se DIVIERTAN. Lo más importante es, la vida no se supone

que debe ser aburrida. Disfrute de las pequeñas cosas de cada día, y no te

olvides de sonreír.

It is incredible that this school year 2015-2016 has come to an end, I really feel very excited because

the Moreno Valley Unified School district has received great State and National awards. I appreciate all

you do for you have acquired a great commitment in being involved in your children's education and

have acquired a responsibility in being volunteers in your schools and our district; you are now on the

path of being knowledgeable about our educational system since you will know more about the work

that MVUSD is conducting and of which we now belong to: the large professional team of Dr. White and

different departments, schools, DELAC parents, board members, parent ambassadors and the commu-

nity. All of us get great information from the parent workshops and classes, careers fairs, tutoring, liter-

ary clubs, all of which is valuable information that the State Superintendent, RCOE, PTA and dif-

ferent colleges and universities provide us. Thank you very much for the support given to our

DELAC/ELAC committees.

1. Encourage them to lay out goals and priorities. Having an idea of what they want to

accomplish, where they want to end up and what’s important to them before the

chaos begins helps them have a proactive year.

2. Help them get organized. A daily planner, organizational folders and a clean study

area are all a must!

3. Encourage them to engage with professors and teachers. You’re never too young to

start networking, so why not begin making meaningful connections that may

help in the long run?

4. Teach them to be open with emotions and struggles. If they are struggling in

school, don’t be afraid to reach out and get help from teachers and tutors. That’s

why they are there!

5. Tell them it’s good to learn from mistakes. Don’t become crippled over an error.

Rather, gain experience from it and see it simply as a stepping stone.

6. Help them establish a work ethic and determination with other tasks. Learning how

to be dedicated and responsible through summer jobs and other activities at

home can easily carry over into the way your student views their education.

7. Visualize the big picture with them. Don’t shy away from talking with your student

about why school matters and where it could eventually take them.

8. Explain the reality of what life would be like without school. Understanding the

reality that children across the globe can’t attend school, and hearing the conse-

quences this lack of education causes, can encourage your student to be thank-

ful and hard-working.

9. Make sure they don’t forget that social lives and hobbies are important. Despite

the chaos the school year may bring, it’s important to save time for the meaning-

ful relationships around you and participate in things that make you happy.

10. Show them how to get involved. Going through school is much more rewarding

when you’re involved and have school spirit. It goes by fast, so make the most of

it.

11. Teach them the importance of not comparing yourself with others. Don’t allow the

classes other students take, grades other students get or friends other students

have to determine your student’s happiness. Every student is on a different

path, and none of them are completely right or wrong.

12. Encourage them to not procrastinate. This can be deadly. Teach your students

good habits like doing their homework directly after school, taking the weight off

their shoulders for the rest of the evening.

13. Remind them to eat, exercise and sleep. It’s important to take care of your body!

When food, exercise and sleep are compromised, it affects every other part of

your life.

14. Teach them it’s ok to ask questions. Don’t be afraid of curiosity and inquisitive-

ness. Learn from those around you, and try to expand your knowledge every day.

15. Tell them to seize opportunities. Young students have endless opportunities.

Encourage your student to sign up for that extra class, take the extra field trip

and join the club, because you never know where it might lead.

16. Remind them to have FUN. Most importantly, life isn’t supposed to be brain

numbing and boring. Enjoy the little things every day, and don’t forget to smile.

Cuanto más sepa acerca de la educación y de la escuela y el distrito de sus estudiantes, más fuerte

será su apoyo en el éxito educativo de sus hijos. Durante estas reuniones se llevan a cabo discusio-

nes del Programa para Aprendices de Inglés y los objetivos de dicho programa, los padres aprende-

rán acerca de los estándares de los cursos comunes y el currículum para los aprendices de inglés,

las leyes federales, estatales y las del Distrito y hacer recomendaciones importantes a los directores

de las escuelas y al Consejo Escolar. Los padres colaborarán con la escuela, el distrito y la comuni-

dad para mejorar la calidad de la educación de nuestros estudiantes. En estas reuniones siempre

habrá anuncios de eventos y talleres para padres. Vengan a encontrar mas oportunidades para que

tengan un año exitoso.

Will it benefit my student if I attend ELAC meetings?

The more you know about your students education and school, the stronger your support will be in

your students’ educational success. During these meetings discussions of the EL Program and EL

Program Goals will take place, the parents will learn the EL common core standards and curricu-

lum, district, state and federal laws and make important recommendations to the principal and

School Site Council. Parents will collaborate with the school, District and community to improve the

students’ quality of education. At these meetings there are always announcements of events and

workshops for parents. Come find more opportunities for you to have a successful year.
