Judul : Deixis In the Song Lyrics of Ed Sheeran’s Divide

Deixis adalah menunjuk lewat bahasa yang berarti cara kita menunjukan sesuatu (jarak antara penutur dan mitra tutur dengan benda atau sesuatu yang ditunjuk). Sebagai suatu hal yang tidak bisa dihindarkan dalam berbahasa, deksis sering kali membingungkan dan berpotensi untuk salah penggunanan dan salah pemahaman yang menjadi masalah utama dalam komunikasi. Album “Divide” oleh Ed Sheeran yang menjadi objek penelitian ini merupakan album yang menarik dengan berbagai makna di setiap lirik lagu nya. Mencermati banyaknya penggunaan deiksis di album tersebut maka perlu dilakukan analisis khusus untuk kata kata tersebut. Di dalam penelitan ini akan dijelaskan analisis deiksis menggunakan teori Levinson untuk mengetahui makna penunjukan kata-kata baru dan menjelaskan makna referensi atau ide pikiran di dalam kata-kata tersebut. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian lingustik kepustakaan berbasis teks dimana sumber data utamanya adalah lirik lagu yang didukung oleh refrensi tertulis. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa tipe-tipe deiksis yakni deiksis orang, deiksis, waktu, deiksis tempat, deiksis sosial dan deiksis wacana digunakan dalam lirik-lirik lagu Ed Sheeran yakni album Divide.

Title of Term Paper : Deixis In the Song Lyrics of Ed Sheeran’s Divide

Deixis is pointing through language which means the way we show something (the distance between the speaker and the speech partner with the object or something that pointed). As an inevitable language, deixis is often confusing and potentially misleading and misunderstanding which is a major problem in communication. The album "Divide" by Ed Sheeran which becomes the object of this research is an interesting album with a variety of meanings in each of his song lyrics. Observing the many uses of deixis in the album needs analysis specifically. In this study I will be describe deixis analysis using Levinson theory to determine the meaning of the reference of new words and explain the meaning of reference or thought ideas in these words. This research is a linguistic research of text-based literature where the main data source is the lyrics of the song that supported by written reference. The results of this study show that the types of deixis are people deixis, time deixis, place deixis, social deixis and discourse deixis used in the lyrics of Ed Sheeran's song Divide album.
