Library
The year 2010-11 marks a significant landmark in the development and growth
of the Doon Library & Research Centre. The institution has now reached a level
of maturity so that it can legitimately claim to have emerged as an important
facility for the citizens of Dehradun. There is now a steady stream of members
and readers to the library all through the day. Demands are now being made
to increase reading hours and increase the number of seats. A particularly
satisfying feature is the large number of young people who make use of our
library. Many are preparing for various competitive examinations. At the same
time there has been a steady increase in the number of students and research
scholars visiting the library.
During the year the library continued to grow in terms of the number of books
and number of members. At the end of the year the library had a total collection
of 13,663 books. Simultaneously membership of the library increased to 880
consisting of 867 annual members and 134 life members. In addition there were
also two institutional members – the Doon University and the Survey of India.
Month-wise data on total books, and membership is shown in the following
below.

An important fact that we wish to underline is that the library was used quite
regularly by the members. In other words the members were not just passive
members, but quite active. This is evidenced by the data on the number of books
borrowed every month. It varied from a low of 532 to a high of 819. Month-wise
information on the number of books borrowed is shown below.
