Purpose: SUNY has adopted Degreeworks, which is a software system that allows students and advisors to easily read, interpret and make sense of the components of their degree plan. Degreeworks will replace our current CAPP audit system to produce official degree evaluations. How it works: Members of the Registrar’s Office have been “scribing” or entering the programming requirements for each degree and certificate program into the system, from the 2012-2013 Catalog to the present. What this does is populate the degree evaluation for any given degree or certificate using the Degreeworks platform in an easy to read and user friendly format. ACCESSING DEGREEWORKS

1. Go to the Cayuga home page: https://www.cayuga-cc.edu 2. Click on “MyCayuga” and log-in

3. Go to the Student records menu (within student services) and select Degree Evaluation

BASICS WORKSHEET FEATURES There are several tabs across the top of the screen with features listed on the left-hand side.

Worksheet Tab: Where you will see your degree audit. This is the tab where you can find the what if, history and look ahead features.

What if: allows to process a “what if” analysis if the student is considering another degree program and/or concentration. Look ahead: See how planned courses will fit into degree program (without needing to register for the courses). History: Where you can look at previous degree audits that were run in the past.

GPA Calculator Tab: Allows you to process different GPA calculations and scenarios.

1. Process new: If recent changes have been made and could impact the degree audit, use this option to process a new audit.

2. Class History: click on this link to see a list of all courses you have taken.

3. Refresh: Use this button to refresh information in DegreeWorks after changes in Banner have been processed. Remember, once you refresh you will also need to click on the “process new” button to see the changes.

4. Print: Click on this link to print the degree audit.

CONDUCTING A WHAT IF ANALYSIS

1. Click on “What If” on the left-hand side (under worksheet tab)

Please note that for a what if analysis for potential degree changes, you should select the current catalog year since degree changes will default to the current catalog year.

2. Select the catalog year, program, and concentration in this section

3. Click on the “process what-if” button to run the analysis.

1. Select Look ahead

2. Add the courses you are planning to take and select process new:

3. The worksheet will now include the planned courses. Courses that do not fit into the degree

program will fall under “fall through courses” at the bottom of the evaluation.

USING THE GPA CALCULATORS

1. Click on the GPA Calc tab on the top. There are three different tools you can use: Graduation calculator, term calculator, and advice calculator. These are all choices on the menu on the left.

Graduation Calculator‐ Projects the remaining average he/she would need to reach a specific GPA for graduation.

Term Calculator‐ Calculates the projected GPA based on “hypothetical” grades for the semester. Anticipated grades can be chosen from the drop down menus.

Advice Calculator‐ Projects the quickest way to achieve a goal GPA.

2. What are insufficient courses? The Insufficient block displays courses that do not count toward degree requirements. Repeated courses could also fall into this category. If you do not have coursework that fits this description, this block may be missing from the audit.

3. What are fallthrough courses?

Typically courses listed in this block are not eligible for financial aid. You should also receive a warning when trying to register for classes that are not financial aid compliant.

4. What do the symbols mean?

The Legend (at the bottom) explains the symbols next to each requirement or course.

• The green check mark means a requirement/course has been completed. • An empty box means that it has not been initiated. • A blue tilde indicates that it is in progress. • A double blue tilde indicates that a requirement is nearly complete. • (T) is an indication that the course was a transfer course. • @ is a wildcard that represents any course number. • * indicates that a Prerequisite is required for that course. • IP means the course is in progress.

All hyperlinks should be clickable and will give you more information.

5. Who can use DegreeWorks?

All currently enrolled students (Catalog Year 2012-13 and forward is available). Faculty can use DegreeWorks as an advising tool.

6. When should a student review their degree audit?

The degree audit should be reviewed:

• Prior to meeting with an advisor.

• Prior to registering for courses.

• At the beginning of each new term.

• At the end of each term.

• Prior to applying for graduation.

• After any changes to major, minor, concentration, or plan of study.

7. What should I do if my degree, minor, or concentration is not correctly displayed? Students can complete a change of degree form if needed or inquire about degree programs at the Centers for Student Engagement and Academic Advisement.

8. Are there requirements for graduation that DegreeWorks does not check?

All requirements for graduation will appear on DegreeWorks. However, final clearance is still made through the Registrar’s office when student complete the application to graduate.

9. How will substitutions work with DegreeWorks?

A course waiver/substitution form must be filled out and approved by the appropriate division chair. It will then be submitted to the Registrar’s office for processing. Please contact the Centers for Student Engagement and Academic Advisement for more information.
