ROTATION
Definition: The imaginary line drawn from the north pole of the earth to the south pole
Extra Fact: Can be represented by a toothpick through a chewed piece of bubble gum
Axis
Definition: The motion of the Earth around the Sun.
Extra Fact: One of these equals about 365.26 days…..this is why we have leap year every 4 years
Revolution
Definition: When the Earth is directly above the equator, the length of day and night is nearly equal all over the world.
Extra Fact: These occur during the spring and fall season Spring Equinox is March 21 and Autumn Equinox is September 21.
Equinox
Definition: When the Sun reaches its greatest distance north or south of the equator. Marks the longest/shortest days of the year.
Extra Fact: These occur during the sinter and summer season. The Summer Solstice is June 21 and the Winter Solstice is December 21. In the northern hemisphere June 21 is the longest day of the year and December 21 is the shortest. It is opposite in southern hemisphere.
SOLSTICE
