While visitors can find posts of the latest news going on in Deerfield Beach at our official Facebook page, they can access local media coverage, city videos and docu-mentaries, Public Service Announcements (PSAs) and special event advertisements at the city’s YouTube page.

Westside Park445 SW 2nd Street. This beautiful 15 acre park located between SW 10th Street and Hillsboro Boulevard offers a full-service recreation center, full-size gym, picnic areas and playground. Improvements include a multi-purpose building that houses a press box, concession stand and restrooms, a football/soccer field and lighted outdoor basketball courts.

Villages of Hillsboro Park4111 NW 6th Street. This park boasts nearly ten acres of meticulously maintained grounds located in the Villages subdivision, and offers basketball courts, jogging/inline skating trails with fitness stations, a sand volleyball court, tennis courts, picnic pavilions and a playground with rubberized surfacing. Bring your boat to take advantage of the boat dock and ramp offered free of charge. Call 954.480.4495 to reserve picnic shelters.

The City of Deerfield Beach Parks and Recreation Department is comprised of six divisions: Administration, Parks & Recreation, Ocean Rescue, Parks Maintenance, Cemetery and the Pier. The Department’s mission is to foster the well being of Deerfield Beach’s diverse community by maintaining beautiful parks, the beach, municipal cemeteries and the pier as well as preserving the environment and providing enriching recreational programs and activities.

The Department oversees and maintains approximately 387 acres of open space, medians, rights-of-way, miscellaneous areas, parks, the beach and city owned property. This acreage is located at over 180 sites city-wide. Our residents enjoy a 976-foot International Pier, a one-mile stretch of public beach, jogging/walking trails and over 25 public parks. The Pioneer Park Tennis Center consists of six hard courts, plus there are six additional tennis courts located throughout the parks system. The Department also offers a full-size gymnasium, several outdoor basketball courts and 21 playgrounds.

The city has two community centers: Constitution Park and the Johnny Tigner Community Center (located in Westside Park). The Department collaborates with the School Board of Broward County in a proactive inter-local agreement to manage the Middle School Athletics and Aquatics Complexes. Through the Parks and Recreation Department the city maintains two municipal cemeteries, Memorial and Pineview.

Constitution Park 2841 W Hillsboro Blvd. Located in the Deer Creek area. Constitution Park offers over eight acres of beautifully landscaped trails and amenities. Constitution Park is home to our Arboretum (Tree Zoo) with over 200 exotic trees displayed along a one-half mile path and the “Zeke” Landis Nursery. The park offers two lighted tennis courts, a lighted basketball court, playground, picnic shelters and a paved jogging/in-line skating trail. The recreation center houses a meeting room and a full service recreation room. Call 954.480.4495 to reserve rooms or picnic shelters.

Crystal Heights ParksSW 28th Avenue, SW 24th Terrace and SW 10th Drive. Picnic tables, playgrounds and sand volleyball court (at 28th Avenue).

Deer Run Parks SW 31st Avenue and SW 34th Avenue. Picnic tables and playgrounds.

Deerfield Beach Middle School Athletic Complex501 SE 6th Avenue. The Athletic Park was completed in the winter of 2004. The athletic fields, 10.8 acres, include three baseball fields, a multi-use field, batting cages and a football/soccer field with quarter mile track. The park also has a multi-use building which houses a concession stand, restrooms and upstairs area that is used as a press box and meeting room. The Aquatic Center was completed in Fall 2005. It has a competition and teaching pool, administrative offices, a multipurpose area for meetings and classes, restrooms and locker rooms.

Pioneer Park222 N Dixie Hwy. This 13.7-acre park along the water includes baseball fields, picnic areas, a new playground facility, tennis facility and a boat ramp leading into the Hillsboro Canal with ocean access.

Municipal Pier & BeachSW 21st Avenue. The City owns, operates, and guards over one mile of public beach along the ocean. Take a refreshing stroll down the landscaped paths along the ocean. Or, for a nominal fee you may enjoy the 976-foot municipal fishing pier. Also offered along the beach are volleyball courts, gazebos, and boardwalk rentals. A beach wheel chair is available behind lifeguard tower 3.

THE BEACH Hillsboro Blvd. & Ocean Way

Visit a “Blue Wave” beach! The City of Deerfield Beach has earned this award designation by The Clean Beach Coun-cil based on specific criteria, which includes excellence in water quality, beach conditions, safety services, public infor-mation and habitat conservation. The Deerfield Beach Ocean Rescue Division protects a one-mile stretch of beach. With nine lifeguard towers, guards are present 9 AM to 5 PM, 365 days per year. Surfing is only allowed north of the

INTERNATIONAL FISHING PIER 200 NE 21st Ave.

The City of Deerfield Beach has unveiled the completion of its latest Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) project. This 2012 showcase project was the reconstruction of the landmark Deerfield Beach International Fishing Pier Entry Buildings. The facility features a family-friendly restaurant, bait shop, ocean rescue station and second story public observation tower. This is the city’s first environmentally sustainable, LEED certified public facility. The 976 foot Deerfield Beach International Fishing Pier is the crown jewel on our beach, attracting thousands of visitors and fishermen annually. The pier’s bait shop provides visitors with fishing rod rentals, pier concessions, frozen bait, tackle, fishing accessories, ice and t-shirts.

Hardcore Beach Body WorkoutIf you are looking to take your exercise pro-gram to the next level this is the program for you. All exercises are done on the sand at the beach. Environmental WorkshopsThe Deerfield Beach Fishing Pier offers a unique series of classes, discussing ecology and conservation practices relating to the ocean. For more information on these class dates and topics call 954.480.4407.

Group Fishing LessonsCome out to the Deerfield Beach Internation-al Fishing Pier and learn some basic instruc-tion on fishing. This program includes rod, bait, tackle, and instructor. A minimum of 10 people per group is required for group fishing lessons. AQUATIC CENTER 501 SE 6th Ave.

The City of Deerfield Beach is proud to welcome you to our Aquatics Center located at 501 SE 6th Avenue in the Deerfield Beach Middle School Athletics Complex. The facility has an Olympic size pool which is 25 yards by 50 meters and has a zero depth entry teaching area. The Aquatics Center is also home to the Deerfield Beach Dolphins swim team and the headquarters for the Broward County North School District’s Swim Central

programming, making it possible for the City to expand its aquatic programs.

The following are some of the features that make the Deerfield Beach Aquatics Center the place to choose for all of your aquatic needs: 8 lanes, 50 meter competition pool or 20 lanes, 25 yard competition pool ~ Zero depth entry teaching area ~ State of the art geothermal heating and cooling system ~ Built in timing system for invitational swim meets ~ ADA approved chair lift for patrons requiring special accommodations ~ Snack Bar and

Deerfield Dolphins Recreational Swim TeamThe Dolphins are members of the South Flor-ida Recreational Swim League that has a mem-bership of over 20 teams. This is a year–round instructional based program that will provide an introduction to all swimming strokes in a fun, recreational setting. Adult Boot CampThe City of Deerfield Beach is offering a ba-sic training exercise program designed to burn calories, lose fat, and strengthen and tone a few good men and women who want to improve their health. This is a 10 week program. Classes are instructed by Camilla DaSilva. The BSO/Deerfield PAL programs are free of charge. All programs are done in partnership with the Broward Sheriff ’s Office and the City of Deerfield Beach. Boxing and Anger Management (BAAM) Classes consists of 8 hours on the introduction to boxing, the other 8 hours in the classroom consisting of topics such as, gun safety, bully-ing, illegal drugs, gangs, impulse behavior and internet safety.Ages: 8-18 years of age, current students When: 16 hour class, 2 nights a week , 2 hours a night, 4 weeks.

Sink or Swim (SOS) This program is designed for pre-teen and teenage youth who do not know or have a very limited ability to swim. This is set up as a 10 hour course. Availability of this course is based on demand and access to instructors and the City of Deerfield Beach Aquatic facility.Ages: 12 - 18 years of age, current students

Wheels of Steel Uni-City DJMusic Production ProgramThis program is designed to teach teens the basics in the skills of a disc jockey and music production. This class will begin with a 40 hour introduction to subject matter and will also in-clude life skills to be taught by Broward Sher-iff ’s Office Deputies. Life skill classes will be similar to classes taught in BAAM.Ages: 13 - 18 years of age, current students

Constitution Park is home to the Arboretum with over 200 exotic trees displayed along a one-half mile pathway and the “Zeke” Landis Nursery. Each year the City of Deerfield Beach works extremely hard to put on what we believe is one of the best 4th of July Celebrations in South Florida. This would not be possible without the contin-ued support of the community and our ven-dors. We want to thank everyone that came out and participated in our annual 4th of July Cel-ebration. With over 70,000 attendees and over 50 vendors participating along with great en-tertainment and an spectacular fireworks show, the event was a huge success!
