Deconstructing ‘Brick Trailer’

Germain Mamode

How its constructed

• After viewing the brick trailer, I realised it lasted just over 2 minutes and figured out that the trailer had over 120 shots when deconstructed

• This is 1 shot per second on average• The brick trailer was not a linear trailer but in fact

constructed non-linearly.• I realised that sometimes non-linearly can be quite

confusing to audiences so I will need to be careful when creating my own trailer footage so audiences will grab a gist of the story.

Deconstructing ‘Brick’

• We deconstructed brick by printing off every shot in the film to get a better understanding of shots and sequences.

• This research task will also increase our understand for our trailer that we will construct. I know that for a good film noir trailer, I will need about 180 shots that will last 2 and a half minutes.

• Shot by shot, we handpicked and numbered all the shots and sequences as a practical task.

Sequences• We then piled all the

sequences together and worked as a team to discuss and categorise all the potential sequences.

• These were done in letters & symbols!

• My film noir trailer will also need sequences to create a mini story that will make it attractive but the story will not be quite as clear so that my trailer is conventional.
