Winvic has been appointed by Prologis UK to construct the new Logistics Operations Centre (LOC) for Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) at Damson Parkway, Solihull. Work on site is due to commence from 6th Jan 2020 and will include the following initial activities: Site establishment - this will include setting up the office and welfare cabins, contractor’s car park and secure perimeter fencing and signage. Service location and trial holes – exploratory trial holes will be dug to identify any existing services such as gas, water, electric and drainage. Earthworks - this will involve water management operations, stripping of topsoil and cut and fill earthworks to the south elevation of the site. Our works will also involve the diversion of the existing Damson Parkway, most of which will be constructed off-line. Refer to diagrams overleaf. A new site entrance will be created at the southbound end of Damson Parkway to enable the earthworks cut and fill to be safely transported across the road. This will be managed with temporary traffic lights that will be operated by a trained traffic management operative and will only be in operation during the day and only when it’s required to progress the works. There will be construction traffic coming into site, but this will be kept to a minimum and only during daylight hours. Traffic management will be in place during the works and will be maintained day and night. Highway works and access to the site have been planned in co-ordination with Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council and will be reviewed on a regular basis during the project. Later in the process; in March, there will be increased traffic management put onto the road to enable the new road works to be completed. This will either replace or supplement existing traffic management to ensure that there is a smooth flow and minimise any disruption. See the four diagrams overleaf, showing the main stages of construction.
