LWML (Lutheran Women’s Missionary League) “O Star of Wonder, Star of Light, Star with Royal Beauty Bright, westward leading, still proceeding, guiding us to thy perfect light. It is time once again – To begin the Advent Traditions, time for shepherds and singing, hanging the greens, and manager scenes, the Advent Wreath, carols and bells, the star and the story. It is time once again – To light the first candle in the Advent Wreath, time to reflect on our faith journey. It is time once again - To celebrate God’s ancient promise – the Christ Child is coming! God’s promise will be fulfilled!

“For the promise is for you, and your children and for all who are far away…(Acts 2:30). There is the promise of meaning in the scripture reading, the promise of the Spirit in the Baptismal Font, the promise of Grace in the Communion Cup, the promise of life in the Promise of God. The powerful promise to you and those near and far away.

“Christmas Tea and Candlelight Service” – The LWML is extending cordial invitation to all ladies of Peace Congregation and their guests to attend the beautiful Candlelight Service and enjoy the sparkling tea served in the Fellowship Hall. Please come and enjoy tea and treats, fellowship and worship. The theme for the Candlelight Service is “What Child is This” and the theme for the Christmas Tea is “Old Fashioned Christmas”. Mark your calendar, Saturday, December 8, 2019 at 3:30pm. Please bring a $5.00 gift if you wish to participate in the gift exchange.

Sunday Bible Study – 9:45 AM Study of the Book of 2nd Timothy

and Titus.

The Pastoral Epistles are three letters written by the Apostle Paul. The Pastoral Epistles are 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy and Titus . All three are letters from an old man at the close of his ministry who is concerned for his successors in the Pastorate. As such, letters concern the things that would be crucial for the young pastors to understand – church, organization and discipline, including such matters as the appointment of Elders and Deacons, the opposition of rebellious members or false teachers, and the maintenance of doctrinal purity. As instructional letters to younger pastors, Paul’s Pastoral Epistles are invaluable today. These letters are full of heartfelt warnings and instructions that characterize Paul’s ministry, revealing his pastor’s heart for the care for the churches he founded. The Pastoral Epistles are the “How-to” manual for pastors in all places and for all time.

Wednesday Bible Study – 6:30 PM

Wednesday Bible Study is taking a time-out through the month of December. We will resume on January 9, 2019 for 8 weeks. This study will be taught by our DCE, Taylor Stichler. We will be covering the Book of James. The Book of James looks a bit like the Old Testament Book of Proverbs dressed up in New Testament clothes. Its consistent focus on practical action in the life of faith in reminiscent of the wisdom literature in the Old Testament, encouraging God’s people. The pages of James are filled with direct commands to pursue a life of holiness. He makes no excuses for those who do not measure up in the mind of this early church leader, Christians evidence their faith by walking in certain ways and not others. For James, a faith that does not produce real life changes is a faith that is worthless. This is a very interesting and enlightening study.

John Knox Bible Study – Thursdays 10:00 AM

Our inheritance through Christ is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading. In 1 & 2 Peter, a man of faith and flaws and

eyewitness to the life of Christ challenges us to look beyond our current circumstances to a future inheritance. He

shares his concerns on big picture issues for the early church, describes believers’ true identity in Christ, and

ultimately helps readers discover what it means to experience the Living Hope they have in Christ. Key themes of

humility, submission, and identity in Christ guide the study of 1 & 2 Peter as participants are challenged to read the

book in its entirety.
