AA re you craving a vacation filled with adventure? Culture? Sun? Choosing a vacation destination from all the options around the globe can be overwhelming. We will show you three amazing destinations that have it all. You may only take these journeys once, but the experiences will stay with you for a lifetime.

Australia

Begin your visit to “Oz” in the dynamic city of Sydney, where you can take in views of the famed Opera House and Sydney Harbor Bridge, and visit the Royal Botanic Gardens and Bondi Beach. Then make your way north to the Queensland coast and experience the Great Barrier Reef, which stretches over 1,600 miles and contains 900

jewel-like islands. See the 1,500 species of fish, 215 types of birds, whales, dolphins, and sea turtles that call the reef home, and cross this “wonder of the world” off your bucket list

Bali

First-time visitors to this enchanting Indonesian gem may be surprised by its small size – you can drive the entire gorgeous coastline in one day – but Bali certainly isn’t short on places to explore. Visit ornate Hindu temples, majestic volcanoes, see fine Balinese art at the Museum Puri Lukisan, hike by waterfalls and vanilla plantations, or simply find nirvana at one of Bali’s pristine beaches.

Greece

It’s one thing to study the ancient ruins in books, and another to watch the sun set behind the Acropolis or one of the other ancient ruins that make Athens the “cradle of Western civilization.” From there, jump on a scenic ferry ride to one of Greece’s islands surrounded by aquamarine water. Santorini, Crete, Mykonos, Hydra, and Ios are popular choices, each with its own distinct culture and charm.

The world is still vast, and even as you check iconic places off your bucket list, there’s a craving to set sail for the new, the next, the undiscovered.

A great escapeA great escape

T ropical sun and fun. That is what attracted most of us to the Tampa Bay area. And that's what makes your Florida home such a popular holiday destination for family members already wrapped in scarves, shoveling snow and sipping hot chocolate.

'Tis the season to feel a bit overwhelmed from juggling a job and all the preparations for big Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's celebrations with that rush of visitors to the Sunshine State. What you need is a break. "There's no time for that right now," you say, "nor a lot of extra money."

But, it doesn't take a great deal of either to enjoy a much-needed escape and recharge your battery. Getaways are galore here in paradise. A good one is just an hour from Tampa and even less from St. Petersburg.

It's Sarasota.

My wife and I recently took a trip to the area south of Tampa and north of Fort Myers -- savoring the romantic sunsets, crystal clear water and pure white sands of award-winning Siesta Key Beach.

Sarasota is a quaint town (pop. 54,000) with a metropol-itan feel that's known as a cultural and environmental hot spot. It boasts a rich history (including the Ringling family of circus fame as well as renown tightrope walker and native Nik Wallen-da) and has a wide range of attractions and activities.

Nearly two million people visit each year, and Money Magazine has ranked Sarasota among the nation's 15 most livable communities.

Alan Chicoine, an Iowa native who was classmates with my wife in high school, enjoyed his vacation to Sarasota so much that the 48-year-old salesman is moving there in February. From Tampa Bay, "you can drive there and have a great weekend," Chicoine says. "Siesta Key is an amazing beach. There is a great blend of culture and plenty to experience."

Sophisticated theater/performing arts and museums have earned Sarasota

the honor as the per capita arts capital in the U.S.

Thinking of

When choosing a destination whether for vacation or business several questions come to mind about currency, travel insurance, necessary documentation and even how much clothing to pack.

Here are some tips to make the journey without mishap

Documents

Check the expiration date of your passport or license and make sure they are in good condition. Most countries require that the expiration date of your passport is at least 6 month in the future. Always have your documen-tations on hand.

Insurance

Travel insurance can minimize the considerable f inancial risks of traveling: accidents, illness, missed flights, canceled tours, lost baggage, theft, terrorism, travel-company bankruptcies, emergency evacuation, and getting your body home if you die

Currency Exchange

It is necessary to know the local currency you will

encounter on your journey. Bring some cash for small expenses such as taxi, coffee, phone calls or tips.

Luggage

To prevent losing your luggage, identify it with some-thing that is easy for you to recognize. Put a change cloth-ing in your carry-on in case your luggage does not arrive or gets delayed.

What should I pack?

Check the weather before packing. Is it warm where you are going? Cold? Pack accord-ing to your destination. Also, remember airlines have a maximum weight per luggage so pack only what you need.
