As the winter cold & flu season is soon to be upon us, and with Ebola now in the United States, we are suspending shaking hands at the sign of peace and following Mass. RETIREMENT FUND FOR RELIGIOUS Give thanks for religious. A parishioner writes, “We thank God today and every day for every religious sister who taught us in school, not only our ABC’s, but also to love God.” Share your gratitude for the senior Catholic sisters, brothers, and religious order priests who have made a positive difference in so many lives. Please give generously to next week’s collection for the Retirement Fund for Religious.

PARISH LOTTERY CALENDARS Parish Lottery Calendars are available in the back of the Churches this weekend for Christmas gift giving. Again this year calendars are $ 20.00 each. They run from April 1st thru December 31st, 2015. Each family in our Parish is asked to take at least (5) calendars to sell. There are both packages of (5) calendars and loose (single) calendars available. (Please do not break up the packages.) You are asked to please sign the calendars out on the sign out sheet provided. Please help to make this very important fund raiser a success again this year! (If you asked for special numbers, they are in manila envelopes with your names on them in the back of the Church you usually attend.)

TURKEYS FOR SALE We have a total of 16 frozen turkeys left from the Turkey Party. We are selling them for $ 20.00 each. If you would like to help us by purchasing one, or by purchasing one to donate to the Food Pantry, please call the Rectory (570-553-2288).

ALTAR & ROSARY MEETING/CHRISTMAS PARTY The Altar &Rosary Society will meet THIS Wednesday, December 10th at 6:00PM at Neumann Hall. There will be a brief meeting as well as packing of Sunshine Baskets for Shut-Ins’ and a Covered Dish Dinner Christmas Party. Please bring your special baked goods for 22 baskets that will be packed. Please also bring a Dish to pass at the Covered Dish Dinner. All ladies of the Parish are invited and welcome to attend.

CHRISTMAS CANTATA A “Prelude to Christmas” Concert will be held with the Little Meadows Methodist Church THIS Friday, December 12th, at 6:30PM. This is the first time the groups have combined to offer the congregations and the community an evening of Christmas music and fellowship. For those who are able, donations of gloves, hats, and scarves will be collected as ‘admission’. Refreshments will be available following the concert. Practice will be held on Monday evenings at 6:30PM at Little Meadows Methodist Church. All are welcome to attend.

CHRISTMAS FLOWER ENVELOPES Please remember that Christmas Flower Donation Envelopes are in your envelope boxes. A space is on the back for me-morials. These donations help to pay the cost of the poinsettias that will adorn our Churches this Christmas Season.

ADVENT PENANCE SERVICE An Advent Penance Service will be held on Sunday, December 21st immediately following the 10:30AM Mass at St. Augustine Church. This will be your final opportunity to make Confession until after Christmas. (There will be no Confes-sions heard on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.)

CHRISTMAS GIFT CARDS AND/OR FOOD PANTRY If you know anyone who needs a CHRISTMAS FOOD BASKET, please call Rosalynd Perlick-Spencer (570-663-2212), as soon as possible. Donations of ham or money to purchase ham would be appreciated. We also have (14) area families ranging in size from 1 person to 5 people, on our list to receive FOOD CARDS. If you know of anyone that needs help, please let us know by December 15th. If you have put someone on the list in the past and they no longer need help, please let us know. Donations for both Food Cards & Food Pantry are needed by no later than December 19th. All donations for FOOD CARDS or HAM for the FOOD BASKETS should be put in an envelope in the collection and marked “Attention Kay”. All donations are greatly appreciated. DONATIONS FOR THE FOOD PANTRY SHOULD BE MADE OUT TO ‘THE FOOD PANTRY’. WHEN MAKING DONATIONS TO THE FOOD PANTRY, PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT NONE OF THE FOOD IS “OUT OF DATE”.

SPECIAL COLLECTIONS FOR THE CHRISTMAS SEASON Hot Chocolate Mix: We are collecting 250 boxes of Hot Chocolate Mix for the Susquehanna County Christmas Bureau. This group provides the ingredients for Christmas Dinner for low income families in Susquehanna County. A box is in the back of the Church for these donations. The deadline for donations is Monday, December 8th. (Hot Chocolate Mix is available at the Dollar stores at better prices than the grocery stores.) WE STILL NEED 75 BOXES OF HOT CHOCOLATE. IF YOU ARE ABLE TO HELP, PLEASE CALL THE RECTORY THIS WEEK. WE CAN ACCEPT DONATIONS ALL WEEK.

DISPOSABLE RAZORS: Thank you to everyone who donated so generously to this collection for St. Francis of Assisi Kitchen in Scranton. All the razors have been donated!

CCD CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION

St. Brigid Parish CCD students are having a Christmas Program on Sunday, December 21st, the 4th Sunday of Advent. The Program will be held at Neumann Hall following 10:30AM Mass. All parishioners are invited to attend and enjoy the program. Each family is asked to help with refreshments by providing either a food or drink item for brunch. Please plan to attend and celebrate this holy season with us. Class will be held at the regular time. Those students who have already attended Mass may stay until the time of the play. (If a snow date is needed, the Christmas Program will be rescheduled for Sunday, January 4th, 2015
