How we met: We met while working at KIII-TV3 together. He was the new weekend sports broadcaster & I was a production assistant at the time.
The proposal: The proposal was absolutely perfect! It was Valentine's Day 2012 & he kept tell-ing me to not make any plans because he had a surprise for me. After work, he told me to hurry because we had to be somewhere by a certain time. I was so nervous & had no idea what was hap-pening. When we walked out to his car, I opened the door to find a blindfold on my seat. He told me to put it over my eyes so that I couldn't see where we were headed. That made the drive seem so much longer & had my nerves going even more! When we arrived at our mysterious destination, he guided me somewhere with the blindfold still on. When he removed the blindfold, I was standing in the middle of an empty Whataburger Field facing the jumbotron screen, which read "Krystal, will you mar-ry me?" I looked down to find Chris on one knee, holding a beautiful ring! (I ac-tually didn't even notice how beautiful the ring really was until about 5 minutes later because I was in such shock.) Then I looked over & saw both my parents & his parents, who had driven down all the way from Katy to be here for the pro-posal! When I said "yes", our song started playing on the speakers. It was magical & the perfect proposal!!
Favorite moment: Bride:Saying our vows to each other was very emotional. I also loved my choreo-graphed father/daughter dance with my dad! Groom: I absolutely loved the first dance with my wife and then during the dollar dance my Aunt Linda telling me how proud my grandmother who
had passed away was of me. It definite-ly made me tear up a bit
Biggest challenge: Bride: Making our way around to say hello to all of our guests. Groom: Actually getting to eat our dinner, which we accomplished!
Funniest/most embarrassing moment: Bride: Last minute shaving touch ups in the girl's dressing room was pretty hilari-ous for my bridesmaids to see! It was also funny when we were doing our Uni-ty Sand Ceremony & most of the sand made it onto the table instead of the vase! Groom: Mike DaSilva, a co-worker of mine at Channel 3, going solo on the dance floor and doing the moonwalk when Michael Jackson came on!
Advice for future brides or grooms: Bride: I highly recommend an event co-ordinator for the day of your wedding, even if you do not have a wedding planner the whole way through! A coor-dinator will handle all of your potential stressful issues & will keep you on track when it comes to your timeline. Also, make sure to go to wedding fairs in the city where you will be getting married. You will find some of the best deals and offers at the fairs! Groom: Don't sched-ule your bachelor party so close to the
wedding if at all possible. I didn't really have a choice, but it still isn't recom-mendable!
If you could do one thing over: Bride: Enjoy more of our cakes. Groom: Take more time to soak it all in. You don't realize how special of a night it truly is until it's over and you can reflect back on it.
Other advice for couples: Bride: Throughout this whole planning process, just be there for each other. Try not to let things make you feel too over-whelmed & stressed. Always remember that the real reason for your wedding is to celebrate your love for each other and that's all that it should be about.Groom: Try not to get too nervous or worried about last minute details in the final few days. I had to do some last minute stuff that we forgot ON THE DAY OF OUR WEDDING and still got them all done! Everything will work out for you, as long as you both say 'I do', it'll be a joy-ous day in the end.
