Degree College Thannamandi organised an Inter-institution Seminar on Mathematics, in which students from ten High and Higher Secondary Schools of Subdivision Thannamandi participated and delivered their presentations on various topics of mathemat- ics. Army conducts quiz, painting competition STATE TIMES NEWS POONCH: To encourage the students of remote areas in Poonch Distt to keep them- selves updated on the cur- rent affairs and to display their talent on canvas, army organised a quiz and paint- ing competition for students of Madrassa, Dara Dullian in Poonch Distt on Saturday. In all 16 students partici- pated in the quiz competition which was categorised into current affairs, general knowledge, science and tech- nology and identifying the personality rounds. In all 35 students partici- pated in painting competi- tion and displayed their imagination and creativity on canvas. STATE TIMES NEWS RAMBAN: District Development Commissioner, Showkat Aijaz Bhat on Saturday reviewed the on several projects being execut- ed under PMGSY and PWD, here at a meeting. The meeting was attended by CPO, Uttam Singh, Xen PWD, Jugal Kishore, Xen, PMGSY, Gyan Singh , AEEs, AEs and JEs. The meeting was informed that 101 schemes, out of total 105 sanctioned schemes, are being executed in the district in two PMGSY divisions including Ramban and Banihal. Besides, 36 projects have been completed at the cost of Rs. 22,451 lakh resulting in development of over 402 km road network. Further, eight bridges have also been completed, out of total sanctioned 11 bridges, and various hamlets have been connected with motorable road grid, so far. While taking stock of PWD sector, it was informed that five different projects were completed in different parts of the district including Ziarat Shareef Jabba road, Revenue complex Gool, diesel Mechanic workshop of ITI Gool, 50m long bridge on Lamber road, Medical Sub Centre and 15 Km road macadamized in division Ramban during the year 2018-19 besides work on various projects is on progress. The DDC directed the offi- cers to submit comprehensive reports detailing the work undertaken, amount of com- pensation provided and pen- dency of roads and struc- tures, condition of the roads besides forest clearance, felling of trees and other fac- tors responsible for causing delay in the works. The DDC directed the SDMs to resolve issues and bottlenecks hampering exe- cution of ongoing works of PWD roads and other proj- ects across the district. STATE TIMES NEWS NOWSHERA: The Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Surinder Choudary on Saturday held a meeting with newly elect- ed Sarpanchs and Panchs at Dak Bungalow Nowshera. In the meeting, MLC con- gratulated the newly elect- ed Sapanchs and Panchs and advised them to work for the development of the area. About 15 Sarpanchs and 70 Panchs and other people attended the pro- gramme. Addressing the gathering, he appealed Governor to hold elections for Block Chairman. DDC reviews progress on PMGSY, PWD projects STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: The Department of Information and Public Relations in col- laboration with Cultural Wing Jammu, on Saturday organised a symposium cum cultural programme on the topic "Role of youth towards parents and society" here at Gujjar Bakerwal Hostel. Warden Gujjar Bakarwal Hostel, Shakeel Ahmed was the Chief Guest on the occa- sion. As many as, 10 students of the host school participated in the contest and expressed their views on the topic. Imtyaz of class 6th was adjudged first while Yasir of class 6th and Arif of class 8th clinched 2nd and 3rd posi- tions, respectively. Besides, Imtyaz of class 7th and Younis of class 7th bagged consolation prizes. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest appreciated the efforts of Information Department for the pro- gramme and urged for organ- ising similar events on regu- lar basis. Highlighting the importance of following traffic rules, DySP Nikhil Gogna said that in 2018 alone, 186 vehicular accidents caused 29 deaths and grievous injuries to 249 in Reasi. STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: Assistant Commissioner Revenue Mohd Ashraf on Saturday flagged off an Election Express van to create awareness among the voters and enroll new voters under Special Summary Revision. The Election Express will travel across the district in next three days to motivate the voters for enrollment. The van is equipped with a public address system as well as banners regarding the special summary revi- sion. The Deputy District Election Officer informed that the special Election Express has been launched for instilling more energy in the ongoing SVEEP cam- paign for special summary revision.
