Terry N9AOT now has a WiresX analog node that is ready to go into service to link with the 145.33 repeater. One of the novel functions with Yaesu WiresX server is the ability to link both digital and analog signals together, thus when the link is in operation, anyone with an analog VHF radio will be able to access

145.33 digital system, check into the monthly digital net or change WiresX room on the system. This will be a simplex node like the current digital nodes that are linked to .the 533 system. So if anyone in the Fox Valley area that has a spare 2 meter antenna, internet and 12 volts of power that can host the node please con-

tact Terry N9AOT. Terry has the radio, node (HRI200) and computer that is needed to activate the node. He will also take care of setting the system up, ad-

just the audio thru the node and linking. The location of the antenna does not need to be extremely high and once in place should be able to cover about a 12 to

15 mile radius.

The FCARC BOARD

would like to wish you

and your family a

Safe and Fun

Holiday

Season, and a Happy

NEW YEAR!

PRESIDENTS CORNER December 2019

As we approach the New Year and reflect upon 2019, it is time to take inventory of what we have, what we’ve

accomplished and what we have left to do for the New Year. Being part of the radio club has been immensely

rewarding as we’ve been able to share with so many people, not only those in the club but with those that we

meet at social events with our radios. Each and every interaction that we have with the public is a way for us to

shine and share our hobby. I’d like to think that each of us is a better person as a result.

One may or may not personally make resolutions or set goals, however these last couple years at the club have

been very rewarding for me and I see much more of that in 2020 and beyond. I am grateful for the Board of

Directors that serve our club: our hobby, with me. It is a fine group of individuals and each has come into their

own in sharing their own skill set with the club. I recommend each and everyone in the club to consider serv-

ing a term on the Board of Directors. Elections are each May, so talk to a board member about what’s involved

and consider throwing your hat into the ring.

Our HamVan team continues to amaze me in putting the work in to ensuring our club has a useful asset for the

future. I am pleased to say that the HamVan is tucked in for the winter and the batteries are being kept warm

with their own trickle chargers ensuring a warm start again in the spring.

2019 has not been without its own challenges as our integrity and fortitude have been personally and collec-

tively tested as a club. I’d like to think that we are past this now and we continue to grow and move forward.

Our finances have been tested as well with what is happening with tower ownerships going from state / local to

commercial ownership with a potential of unfavorable “commercial” rents. To this end, our Treasurer Donna,

is seeking fund raising ideas and is hosting an event on January 7 at Glass Nickel Pizza in Appleton.

Look forward to seeing everyone at our December 16th Club meeting and holiday pot luck. Bring a dish to pass

as the club will provide plates, silverware and beverages.

Thank you all for your contributions to Amateur Radio and the communities which we serve. We are the Fox

Cities Amateur Radio Club and continue to be the strongest club in the Valley and offer the most variety of

programs for its members.
