President’s Message

Greetings,

Page 2: December 2016 - Republican Women of Prescott · 2019-12-05 · December 2016 Guest Speaker Secretary of State, Michele Reagan will install RWOP’s 2017 Officers Meeting Information

Through all the trials and tribulations of an election year, the sweetness of Victory is beyond the pale. Nowhere was that more evident than being at the Prescott Resort on November 8th, where President Elect-Trump just kept bringing in the blue states and turning them 'RED.' The Victory Party was joyous, but the anxiety of leaving the party without knowing who would be our next President, kept most of us awake through the early morning hours. Now more than ever we watch HOPE cast its spell across America. Acknowledging great ambition, the 2016 Board Members took on the challenge of improving RWOP's infra-structure. Our growth over the past three years has been outstanding as RWOP became the nation's largest federated Republican women's club. Being the largest was a great accomplishment and now being the 'BEST' was the direction of the Board. Through the Board's tenacious actions, you have experienced Enhanced Communications, New Member Coffees, Outreach to the Hispanic Communities, Evening Events, and a myriad of internal operating changes. This was accomplished while presenting outstanding monthly programs, supporting local campaigns and completing the year with the successful 'Big Event' featuring Judge Jeanine and our 3rd annual, 'Tribute to our Veterans.' Our celebrated Hassayampa Tea in addition to our major monetary/gift contributions to the Prescott Community exceeded all others, while RWOP membership numbers remained constant with the previous year. Have we been busy-yes, overwhelmed-yes, but determined to be the best we possibly can be with a Board and a pro-active Membership that never said, "No." I am blessed to have worked with such great ladies that volunteered so much time and energy. Our finale-2016 luncheon is infused with excitement. Secretary of State, Michele Reagan will join us and perform the installation of RWOP's 2017 elected Executive Committee. Our popular, Christmas Bazaar with shopping and freshly baked goods is filled with camaraderie, merriment and old fashion Christmas fun! Come say "hello" and greet many of RWOP's past Presidents. Nowhere else on God's green earth will you feel the vibrant energy of our wonderful Republican Community. I am biased, of course. As we finish this phenomenal year, may President-elect Trump rain on America that sense of accomplishment, that pride and well-being we remember so many years ago. I wish you and your family a wonderful and blessed Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and Happy New Year. Fondly, Donna Tanzi President

Legislature – Linda Gray

District 1 Legislators Receive Key Committee Assignments Senate President-elect Steve Yarborough reduced committees from 16 to 10, so our hard-working Senate-elect Karen Fann as a freshman will not receive a chairmanship, but neither did any other freshman. (Their loss in my opinion.) However, Senate-elect Fann will be Vice Chair on two committees. Her committee assignments include: Finance (Banking and Insurance included), Vice Chair; Transportation & Technology, Vice Chair; and Natural Resources, Energy & Water. This means our Senator will have a direct voice on 33 percent of the bills going through committee hearings. Speaker-elect JD Mesnard has announced House committee assignments. Congratulations to Rep. Campbell and Representative-elect David Stringer on their committee assignments. Representative Noel Campbell will serve on: Committee on Military, Veterans & Regulatory Affairs; Federalism, Property Rights & Public Policy; Transportation & Infrastructure. Representative-elect David Stringer will serve on: Education; Federalism; and Judiciary & Public Safety.
