g he week before Halloween was very excing here at Randall
Residence. We kicked off the week with our annual trick or
treat night for the kids. The residents loved seeing all of the
kids in their costumes. We finished the evening with a costume contest
where the residents and their families voted on the best costumes. The
residents loved cheering for their favorites and the kids were very excit-
ed to receive prizes. It was a fun evening! Our resident/staff Halloween
costume contest was so much fun this year! Several staff and residents
dressed up and then voted on the winners. John & Jean S. won first
prize and were dressed as clowns. Maxine W. won second prize
dressed as a clown. Gina A. took third place dressed as a tradional
German girl, and Carolyn H. received fourth place dressed as Marilyn
Monroe. We had appezers and enjoyed socializing with one another.
We celebrated Veterans Day by honoring all of our residents and their
spouses that have served in the armed forces. We had 55 people that
were recognized: 17 residents who served in the armed forces and 38
residents whose spouses served in the armed forces. Bob S. played
“God Bless America,” “The Star Spangled Banner,” and “The Ba8le
Hymn of the Republic” on the player piano while everyone sand along.
Hap J. & Bob T. booth read patrioc poems. Dick P. concluded the program with a salute to the armed forces
and “God Bless America.” It was a wonderful celebraon to recognize the men and woman who fearlessly
served our country. Some of our noble veterans are pictured below.
We were able to have the 4th graders from L.T Ball come to perform a square dance for our residents. Many
of the residents reported that they use to square dance and greatly enjoy seeing these young people!
We had a fire pit one evening and roasted marshmallows and made
s’mores. Several residents had a s’more for the first me! The Tipp City
Interact Club was able to join us for this experience and they passed out
s’mores to residents who didn’t come out. We were glad to enjoy a warm
evening in November before winter hits. Pictured at le@ is Jean S. enjoying
s’mores!
We were able to perform a flash mob dance to “Happy” in honor of Rhon-
da E., who was this year’s recipient of the Wiker Award. We had several of
the resident’s families, staff, and community members that parcipated in
the dance. We are so proud of Rhonda E. and the hard work and dedica-
on that she shows consistently to the residents. Great job Rhonda!
We are so excited to be a part of the Project Believe Christmas program
this year. The residents have been working hard on making 175 Christmas
cards for the youth who are in residen-
al treatment facilies. And we will be
making 6 boxes of Christmas cookies
the week of December 14th to be deliv-
ered to each facility for the youth and
workers.
We will be showing a variety of your
favorite Christmas movies throughout
the month of December so stay tuned
for the movie schedule.
