Christmas Cocktail Party on December 12 Newsletter Team – by Jane Huerta We need a team of volunteers to prepare the monthly Tallywood Newsletter. Each member of the team can be responsible for one or more of the following: 1. Plug news into the existing template. 2. Update the Calendar of Activities. 3. Prepare the Advertising Insert. 4. Deliver or e-mail pages to the printer. 5. Pick up and distribute the printed news-letter to the four people who already deliver it to the front doors.

The good news is that: 1. Currently, several residents contribute articles and information, so very little extra writing is needed.

2. Our management company can submit the minutes of the Board meeting & workshops. 3. Templates in WORD software already exist for the newsletter, calendar, and ad-vertising insert. 4. Most of the work can be done from the comfort of your own desk either in Tally-wood or “up north.” 5. It is easier to find someone to substitute once in a while if the tasks are small. Current Newsletter Editor, Peggy Ellis, will be resigning at the end of the year with the January 2016 issue which comes out at the end of December. She has kindly agreed to be available to help the team with the first couple of issues. Please contact her at [email protected] or 941-365-5716. Volunteers Needed to Decorate Tree and Clubhouse on Friday, December 4, 2015

Gloria Ewing, Clubhouse Chair-man, will be decorating the Christmas tree and clubhouse on Friday, December 4, 2015, from

10am – 12 noon and welcomes all volunteers. Your help will be appreciated. Call Gloria at 919-270-4815 for information or questions.

Tallywood Book Club News - Dillina Stickley The Tallywood Book Club (TBC) met on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 in the clubhouse library to discuss All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr with 4 avid readers joining in the discussion and fun. The Book Club will continue to be held on the first Tuesday of each month at 7pm in the clubhouse. The next meeting is December 1, 2015. We will discuss The Hundred Foot Journey by Richard Morais. Abbas Haji is the proud owner of a modest family restaurant in Mumbai. But when tragedy strikes, Abbas propels his boisterous family into a picaresque journey across Europe, finally settling in the remote French village of Lumiere, where he establishes an Indian restaurant, Maison Mumbai. Much to the horror of his neighbor, a famous chef named Madame Mallory, the Indian establishment opposite her own begins to garner a follow-ing. Thus ensues an entertaining culinary war. This vivid, hilarious and charming novel – about how just a small distance of a hun-dred feet can represent the gulf between different cultures, different people, their tastes and their destinies -– is simply burst-ing with eccentric characters, delicious flavors and high emotion. The meeting in January is Tuesday, January 5, 2016. We will discuss The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins. It is a psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people’s lives. Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple break-fasting on their deck. She’s even started to

feel like she knows them. “Jess and Jason,” she calls them. Their life --as she sees it -- is perfect, not unlike the life she recently lost. And then she sees something shocking. It’s only a minute until the train moves on, but it’s enough. Now everything’s changed. Unable to keep it to herself, Rachel offers what she knows to the police, and becomes inextricably entwined in what happens next, as well as in the lives of everyone involved. Has she done more harm than good? Remember there are no rules for this Book Club! It is open to all. Come when you can, read the book if you can, and come and go as you like. Each person will have an opportu-nity to choose a book for the Club to read. Come and enjoy the conversation & goodies. Feeding Raccoons is Illegal – by Pat Kolodgy Although the Board has asked residents not to feed the wild- life in Tallywood, some people continue to do so. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission notes: “Do not feed raccoons! It is illegal to place or offer food or garbage in a way that attracts raccoons and creates a public nuisance (Rule 68A-4.001 (3)). Problem raccoons are usually the result of chronic feeding by humans. Wild raccoons accustomed to being fed will lose their natural fear of humans and seek to move closer to their food source – your house.” Please cooperate and follow the law.
