By Jon Santucci Special to Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers JENSEN BEACH — After four years, Jensen Beach girls golf coach Mike Thurman is running out of adjec- tives to describe Lucy Robson. “What more can you say about her? She’s just been outstanding and so consistent,” Thurman said. “The thing about Lucy is that there’s not any one part of her game that stands out. Her strength is that she is so well-rounded. “If there ever came a time that she hit an errant tee shot, on the second shot, she would make up for it. If she hit a great drive and a poor ap- proach on her second shot, then her short game is just phenomenal. She is the complete package and is able to maintain focus through an entire hole and an entire round. She did that all year.” Robson, a senior, averaged 37.1 strokes per nine holes this season, finished first in the District 18-2A tournament, was the runner-up in the Region 6-2A tournament and finished 23rd in the Class 2A state tournament. She is the Scripps Treasure Coast Newspaper’s All-Area Girls Golfer of the Year for the second season in a row. Though Robson made playing look easy, her ability to stay focused on the course wasn’t always easy, as she juggled college classes, the pres- sure of leading Jensen Beach’s tal- ented golf team and working toward a college scholarship. After playing well in summer tournaments and throughout another strong season, Robson signed with South Florida. “I put a lot of pressure on myself for college,” Robson said. “With coaches and scholarships and this year, I just kind of played the game instead of trying to force good scores. Probably, the mental side of my game was the biggest thing this year. When I took the pressure off myself (after committing to South Florida), it really helped.” Thurman lauded Robson for her focus and drive. Robson often deter- mined what she needed to work on in practice based on her performance in previous rounds. “I never really needed to tell her anything other than when and where to be,” Thurman said. “She has very high standards and she understood what she needed to do to get better.” Robson saved her best golf for the postseason and helped the Falcons reach the state tournament for the third consecutive year. She shot even-par 72 in the district tourna- ment — surprisingly, only the sec- ond time Robson claimed medal- ist honors in the postseason. Her 4-over-par 76 in the Region 6-2A tournament helped the Falcons beat Lake Mary, the eventual Class 2A champion. Jensen Beach finished 10th in the state, with Robson posting a team- low 79 on the final day of the tour- nament. “Districts and regionals were the most memorable rounds of the sea- son — probably regionals, because we beat the team that won state (Lake Mary),” Robson said. “We thought we were going to come in second. We really thought we had a chance at state, so we were really pumped up. “We didn’t have our best rounds (at the state tournament) at all. That’s golf; everyone has those days and those two days weren’t ours.” Complete package Lucy Robson’s focus and consistency helped Jensen Beach return to the state tournament Lucy Robson Jensen Beach senior Notable: Averaged 37.1 strokes per nine holes during the regular season, shot 72 in the District 18-2A tournament (medalist), shot 76 in the Region 6-2A tournament (runner-up) and shot 165 in the FHSAA Finals (tied for 23rd in Class 2A) Coach Mike Thurman: “She’s been a very, very big part of this team for four years and we’re certainly going to miss her contributions. JENSEN BEACH — After four years, Jensen Beach girls golf coach Mike Thurman is running out of adjec-tives to describe Lucy Robson.

If she hit a great drive and a poor ap-proach on her second shot, then her short game is just phenomenal. Robson, a senior, averaged 37.1 strokes per nine holes this season, finished first in the District 18-2A tournament, was the runner-up in the Region 6-2A tournament and finished 23rd in the Class 2A state tournament.

She is the Scripps Treasure Coast Newspaper’s All-Area Girls Golfer of the Year for the second season in a row.

Though Robson made playing look easy, her ability to stay focused on the course wasn’t always easy, as she juggled college classes, the pres-sure of leading Jensen Beach’s tal-

ented golf team and working toward a college scholarship.

After playing well in summer tournaments and throughout another strong season, Robson signed with South Florida.
