Two Great Teachers

Ms. Shelly and Ms. Karin are two of the

best teachers a person could ever have. They are

the biggest reasons I’m so happy to be a student

Lincoln International High School. This is my

second year at Lincoln, but I remember meeting

them when I started. Of course I didn’t know

anyone at Lincoln then, which made me a little

nervous. I was relieved to meet Ms. Shelly and

Ms. Karin right away because they made me feel

welcome. They seemed to truly care about mak-

ing me feel comfortable in my new school. They

offered to help me with my homework in any

subject after school. That made a big difference

for me because I needed the extra help. They

even offered to drive me home on days when I

didn’t have a ride home. They really cared about

me – and they still do. They are both such good

friends of mine.

This past summer I did something very

special: I participated in the 360 Journalism

Camp, at St. Thomas University. I had a great

time and I learned a lot. It was Ms. Shelly and

Ms. Karin who encouraged me to do it, and they

helped me with my application. They really be-

lieved in me, and that made me believe in myself.

When it came time to go to the camp, Ms. Karin

drove me there and made sure everything was just

right in my room. And then, when the camp was

finished a week later, Ms. Shelly picked me up

and took me home.

It was so great to have a friend who was

really interested in me and my life. I have had a

lot of teachers in my life, but very few of them

have been real friends the way Ms. Shelly and

Ms. Karin are. I am blessed to have them both as

my good friends. They remind me all the time

that they are there for me. They ask me how I’m

doing in my classes. They don’t forget about me,

or confuse me with other girls. They make me

feel special. Usually I talk to my teachers like I

talk to my parents. My teachers are grown-ups,

so it’s important to speak to them with respect.

When you show people respect they will usually

respect you. -Saadiyo Hassan

The school dance was a blast! Give thanks to the

student government for making everything happen.

They worked hard for you all to enjoy it and enjoy your-

selves. The Halloween theme was a perfect environment

for all the teachers who dressed up as witches, pirates

and so on.

Where was the spirit in school spirit week? Spirit

week isn’t just for the teachers it’s for student to get up

and show all their school spirit. Hopefully we can all do

better next year and show our school spirit. But for eve-

ryone else who did participate; thanks for showing your

school spirit.
