A COMMUNITY OF COMPASSIONPatients attest to the quality, Lab results confirm it.

At the El Camino Wellness Center, our

medicine is held to the highest standard of

quality. Every batch of medicine, even from our

regular growers, is sent to a laboratory for

comprehensive testing.

We test for THC, CBD, and CBN levels

which allows us to offer a wide variety of

Cannabis, edibles and more which meet the

strictest safety and potency guidelines.

Healing is about more than medicine. Our

members have found great comfort in the

support of an active patient community.

Cooking classes, music and Ayurvedic

therapies, and even peer counseling are all

hosted weekly onsite. We don’t keep it all to

ourselves, however. El Camino Wellness

Center is a proud supporter of Students for

Sensible Drug Policy and Americans for Safe

Access. In many ways our community of

patients is as important as the medicine itself.

We’re proud to be Sacramento’s most

trusted wellness center, but we’re only as

strong as our patients. So come help make us

stronger, because getting well feels better

when we all grow stronger together.

Strain of the Month: GDPGrand Daddy Purple is a very well

developed strain. It has a very pungent

odor and distinguishable nug structure. It

is synonymous to the “purple strain”. This

c lass ic s t ra in was deve loped by

Apothecary a breeder from northern

California. Grand Daddy Purple has taken

fi r s t p r i z e i n n u m b e r s c a n n a b i s

competitions such as the Inglewood

Medical Cannabis cup in 2004 and the

Green cup in 2004- It is said that the strain

is derived from Purple Erkel and Grape

Ape. However it is safer to say that these

strains are phenotypes of each other. The

genetics of the plant resemble that of

various Hawaiian indicas. Grand Daddy

Purple is a pure indica which grows in a

very short bushy stature. It is ideally grown

in a “super crop” method, making it easier

to control and train. The plant grows well in

soil or hydroponically. Grown in an ideal

environment with ideal settings GDP can

reach between three to five feet when

grown indoors, or above eight feet grown

outdoors. The genetics allow for close

node spacing, producing denser buds. The

strain grows well in cool conditions,

maintaining a 70 to 75 degree temperature

during its vegetative development is ideal.

Also, decreasing the temperature in the

final weeks of flowering to 60 degrees

yields a more colorful product. The plant’s

flowering cycle is typically eight to nine

weeks long. This interval of time ensures

that the plant has reached its maximum

trichome production and yield. Average

yield indoors is noted to be a half ounce to

approximately four ounces.

The aroma emitted from the plant is

very sweet and a back hint of grapes. The

taste is very similar to the smell; the flavor

seems to linger in your taste buds. The

buds themselves are usually dense with a

dark purple hue and orange hairs. The

strain is known to help patients alleviate

symptoms of nausea and pain, great for

patients coping with the after effects of

chemotherapy. The effects are very

physiological but in most cases it does not

leave you feeling very groggy.

CUT OF THE MONTH

SFV OGThis month El Camino Wellness Center

is highlighting a SFV OG Kush. It is a

Sativa-dominant hybrid. The acronym

stands for San Fernando Valley OG. It is

said that the strain is a S1, making it a self

seeded variation of Ghost OG Kush. It is

similar to the ancestral variety but has

tighter node spacing and sturdier branches.

This strain is used frequently as a parent

plant in breeding for Cali Connection seeds.

The leaves structure is that of a sativa, the

SFV has a variety of pale and dark leaves,

and dark pistols. Grown under ideal

conditions, the buds are semi dense and

have great trichome production. The aroma

emitted from the SFV is very strong. It has a

lemon pine flavor with a diesel undertone.

The flavor is that of a sweet kush with a hint

of citrus. The effects from plant are very

sativa, giving a strong cerebral high with

some physiological sensations. The latter

effects are somewhat lethargic. The typical

flower time for the plant is approximately 8

to 10 weeks. The plant does well when

grown in different types of grow mediums. It

is a mid yielding plant that can reach

towering heights. The temperature constant

should remain between seventy to seventy

–five degrees Fahrenheit. Many varieties of

OG plants thrive on magnesium, using a

supplemental nutrient such “CalMag” can

help prevent unwanted symptoms of

discoloration and nutrient supply. This is

strain is very easy to grow, and ideal for

many Sativa lovers.

GROWING CLASSESThe growing classes offered

by El Camino Wellness Center are detailed classes teaching patients how to grow medical cannabis. The purpose of these classes to help further the development of medicinal grade cannabis and help patients save money. I have grown cannabis for over eight years. I have supplied numerous collectives with medicinal grade cannabis and cuttings. I currently work in the cannabis industry and am the grow liaison for El Camino Wellness Center. I promote the development of organic cannabis and emphasize the necessity of cannabis to be developed for medicinal purposes.

Each of our classes are specifically catered to each individual patient present during each class. The classes are held twice a week, once on Monday evenings and the other on Saturday afternoons. Having two days allows more time to be spent with each patient, a lso i t g ives the instructor a more specific lesson plan. During the beginning of the class patients are asked how extensive their knowledge is on growing cannabis, the majority are beginners. In this instance the grow instructors go o v e r b a s i c g r o w procedures. The first step is determining the type of grow the patient desires, whether is indoor or outdoor. If the patient chooses indoor the instruction begins with setting up the room and lighting. There needs to be a certain physical calculated area designated for the desired lamp wattage. After the set up has been designed basic plant development is reviewed. We begin wi th seed germination if that is a preference over using a cutting as a starting point.

The next step is to go over the different type of grow mediums that patients have to choose from. If a patient prefers to grow hydroponically we will go into detail about hydroponic systems, timing, nutrients, solution mixtures and grow tips. Hydroponics

growing methods are discussed in greater detail on the Monday evening classes. However, if patients choose other grow methods and mediums such as soil growth we will discuss the typical procedures necessary for deve lopment . We w i l l d i scuss vegetative growth and plant training allowing growers to manipulate the manner in which the plant grows. A variety of topics are discussed in each of the different methods of vegetative growth such as supplemental nutrients and certain growing advantages such as taking plant cuttings. If patient knowledge is more advanced, plant cutting methods are discussed, if not this topic is saved for a following class. The classes also discuss climate control, temperature constants, pest control and water management (i.e. pH

a n d E C c o n c e n t r a t i o n ) . The final topic discussed in the class is the flowering cycle for cannabis. The instructor discusses light intervals and nutrient regiments needed for flower development. Usually patients come for more than one class and designate one class for vegetat ive growth and one for cannabis flowering. Patients also learn about curing procedures and effective ways to attain better color development and taste. These classes are effective ways for patients to promote the development of cannabis and maintain a quality supply for their medicinal needs.

If you ask me, the month of

December is all about the abundance of

delicious baked goods, friends and

family. More than any other time of year,

we put our healthy diets on the shelves

a bit to indulge in sweet, spiced, and

festive treats, and in favor of getting a

little tipsy. On that note, OMEGA Spiced

Cookies by Class One Kitchen fit the bill

in a big way, only contain 34 calories

each (no blown diet required), and add

to that, the obvious- they get you high

too!

But the question on everyone's

minds is: how high? I tend to be an

edible heavyweight, owing to the fact

that I typically smoke cannabis, and

smoke it often. So I opted to eat both of

the 2 dose cookies for a total of 4 doses

so I could really impart what kind of

buzz these puppies could give. The

result? A heavy, stoney high, followed

by a four hour nap, from which I awoke

feeling clear-headed and free of

physical discomfort.

And secondarily, you're probably

wondering how they tasted! Made with

cannabis-infused honey, flour, egg,

sugar, butter, baking soda, cinnamon,

salt, and cloves, these edibles are low

in sugar, and thereby diabetic friendly.

The infused honey gives it a sweetness

that won't make your grown-up taste

buds pucker, and in sum they pretty

much tasted like sticky, dank ginger

snaps; delicious.

We also carry Class One Kitchen's

OMEGA Honey Buttons and OMEGA

Apple Bars, all of which cost $8 a pop!

Ayurveda Consultations

Ayurveda is one of the many free holistic services

we offer our patients on-site at our medical

cannabis dispensary collective. Our in-house

clinical Ayurvedic specialist, Geoffrey Wood, has

been practicing this traditional medicine of India for

over a decade, and susses out his clients' needs

by a lengthy questioning process, pulse

assessment, and visual inspection. Once he has

assessed his clients' prakruti and vikruti, or

inherent and current state of the doshas, or bodily

humors, Geoff takes a methodical approach to

prescribing his clients with dietary and lifestyle

changes, coupled with herbal therapies, to restore

balance back to their bodies. He works closely with

his clients by following up on how the plan

implementation is working for them, and also by

helping them to identify roadblocks to making

pos i t i ve l i fes ty le changes they may be

encountering. Additionally, he offers Ayurvedic

perspectives, and recommendations for color

therapy, aromatherapy, and basic meditation-

pranayama (breathing exercises), and/or mantra.

Geoff also performs Marma therapy, which uses

points that lie along the body's meridians, or nadis,

similar to acupressure, to remove energy

blockages and effect the energetic flow of the body.

This bestows the client with an immediate

improvement in well-being that encourages them to

return for more comprehensive Ayurvedic

consultations and enact positive lifestyle changes

that will result in a better quality of life overall.

Tools needed:

A Couple of zip lock bags of trim or buds frozen (wet/dry)Bubble Bags set of 4 or 85 lbs of crushed iceH2o ice cold1 one gallon bucketStainless Steel Mixing Spoon1 Table spoonPressing Screen (one should come with your bags)Kitchen Towel4-5 pieces of card board (clean, no print is best)

1. Place the bubble bags, in ascending order (smallest number to biggest), in your bucket. Make sure to fold the bag over the rim of the bucket to prevent movement and to ease the removal process.

2. Once all the bags are placed in your bucket and secured place a layer of ice down in the work bag followed by the frozen trim/buds then cover with more ice and add water. Place bucket in your refrigerator for about 30 min. You want to be able to stir this so to much ice can make the process a bit difficult. Nevertheless you want your water to be as cold as possible.

3.Take your metal spoon and begin to stir vigorously for about 15 to 20 minutes. The mix will become frothy and green colored. You can use an electric hand mixer if you like, but the spoon method works well. After the 15-20 min is up let the bags sit for about 20 min to settle.

4. After your mix is settled begin to remove the work bag by pulling up and allowing it drain all of the water through its screen into the next bag. When most of the water has been drained from the bag set it aside to finish draining. Do this process for all remaining bags.

5. Now that the bags have drained you must harvest your hash fromthe bags. Take the first bag (not the bag work bag with all the trim) and carefully stretch the bag inside out over the top of thebucket and remove the hash that has collected on the screen withyour trusty table spoon.

6.Place the kitchen towel down on to a flat surface then place the pressing screen on top. Spoon the hash onto the pressing screening gently. Then fold the screen in half and press down to extrude the remaining water from the hash. Next place the semi dried hash on a piece of card board to further dry. As the hash dries its best to break it up to ensure proper drying. Repeat steps 5-6 for each remaining bag. Keeping the hash separated by grade or what color micron bag you used, will help you discern what bag gave you what hash. Last but not least you can press your hash or simply work the hash in your hand for a nice melty gooey treat!

Bog seeds presents: bushy old growers “tip of the month”Greetings Growers…. Last month Mrs. BOG and I had the pleasure of conducting a grow seminar at El Camino Wellness Center. We discussed many of the basic growing principles presented in our book, “Bonanza of Green”. Several topics were discussed including mite control. As I have stated previously “mites and mold are the banes of growers”. They are both common problems. We can discuss mold later, but for now lets talk mites. Many products are available and mite control is a must. Often growers hesitate to use insecticides and these are not normally sold in California grow stores. Organic plant based remedies are available and we can recommend a product that is readily available. Safers Soap is usually adequate for outdoor plants, but Azamax combines 3 actions and it works very well. This product is plant based, organic and safe. At a rate of 2 tablespoons per gallon, this product is sprayed at 1 week intervals if heavy infestation is present and every 2 weeks to prevent the mites. Heavy infestation is when you see webs. Light infestation is when you just see bite marks. Azamax can be used right up to harvest unlike synthetic pesticides such as Avid or Floromite.

Keep the mites out of your gardens and stay thirsty my friends, BOG.

ONLINE MENUWe are proud to be the featured dispensary on STICKYGUIDE.com. This website just launched two weeks ago and has a brilliant menu system which allows you to search for your medication by ailment, strain, and effect. It also has zoomable picture and you can review each strain!
