Na$onal  Pollu$on  Preven$on  Day  •  The  Na$onal  Pollu$on  Control  Day  is  celebrated  every  

year  on  2nd  of  December  in  India    •  This  is  done  in  order  to  give  the  honor  and  memorialize  

the  thousands  of  human  beings  who  had  lost  their                  existence  because  of  the  Bhopal  gas  calamity.  

•                         There  are  many  efforts                  taken  by  the                          government  by  making                the  pollu$on                            controlling  Policy.    

World  Computer  Literacy  Day    •  It  was  started  in  the  year  2001.  •  It  aims  to  increase  the  access  to  the  informa$on  technology  and  the  digital  world  for  the  disadvantaged                                                            communi$es.  

•  From  the  Internet  and  mobile                                                  phones  to  TV  and  radio,                                                                                                the  rise  of  informa$on  and                                                            communica$on  technologies                                                          (ICTs)  is  said  to  be  crea$ng                                                          a  ‘Global  Village’.  

Bhopal  Gas  Tragedy  •  The  Bhopal  disaster  (Bhopal  gas  tragedy),                                                                            

was  a  gas  leak  incident  in  India.  It  is                                                                      considered  as  the  world's  worst  industrial                                                        disaster.  

•  It  occurred  on  the  night  of  2–3  December  1984  at  The  Union  Carbide  India  Limited  (UCIL)                                                                                                                      a  pes$cide  plant  in  Bhopal,(M.P)  

•  Over  500,000  people  were  exposed  to                                                                            methyl  isocyanate  (MIC)  gas  and  other                                                                  chemicals.    

•  The  toxic  substance  made  its  way  in                                                                                and  around  the  shanty  towns  located  near                                                                                              the  plant.  

Bhopal  Gas  Tragedy  (contd…)  •  Many  were  killed  at  the  blast  site  and  within  2  weeks                                                

many  more  were  killed  because  of  the  gas  leak  and                                                gas  related  disease.    

•  A  government  affidavit  in  2006  stated  that  the  leak  caused  558,125  injuries  including  38,478  temporary  par$al  injuries  and  approximately  3,900  severely  and  permanently  disabling  injuries.

punish  the  culprit  to  give  jus$ce  to  the  loss  of                                                                      thousands  of  innocent  lives.  

•  It  just  doesn’t  stop  here,  30  years  have                                                                          passed  since  that  horrid  incident,  but  the                                                                    effects  s$ll  linger
