This year the performance was entitled “It’s Christmas, Carol!” Maddy Peters played the role of Carol, a grumpy workshop manager at the North Pole. Visited by three mysterious ghosts (aka Jacob, Wes and Aidan), they set her future down the right path and help her realize the importance of caring for her fellow elves. We hope we thanked everyone on the night of the performance; so I will spend this time passing on some praise we have heard from families present for the performance: “This year’s play was fantastic! The story line was both funny and heartwarming, and it moved along really well. …The songs were well sung, in particular the upper grades - they did a superb job with their singing parts.” “One of my favourites!” “Best in years!” “You and the others did such wonderful work with it! Please pass on our thanks to the rest of the staff involved.” Glenn Gibson ([email protected]) Be Awesome, Be Better, Be a Team Player Upcoming Events: December 16-19 Caroling in the gym 8:30am December 19 th Sleigh Rides December 19 th 11:50 am dismissal January 5 th , 2015 Back to school! Fundscrip Thank-you to the 9 families and 3 staff members who helped support our new gift-card fundraiser. With your help we raised a little over $120 for the Society for Millarville School Fundraising. Missed out? Good news: the service doesn’t end with the holidays! Paper orders will continue to be accepted in the main office each month with the orders being placed on the last Thursday of each month. Or order anytime through the Fundscrip.com website using our code: R4CJZQ View the attached page for more details.

4th Annual Light-a-Candle Campaign

In 2010, Samantha Scott (one of our current grade 6 students) had a dream to support local charities during the Christmas Season through engaging MCS students to make a pledge. The pledge? Simple. Five dollars from each child in MCS to be donated to one of three causes. Students are encouraged to volunteer time, complete an extra chore or ask Santa for support. The three charities being supported are;

The Alberta Children’s Hospital The Calgary Humane Society The Oilfields Food Bank

Students are encouraged to bring in their donations and choose one or all of these charities to support. Jars will be in the office to accept donations and all proceeds of the bake sale will be divided evenly amongst the charities. Thank-you for your support! Samantha Scott and Hanna Matovich
