Reflection of the Gospel:

As we reflect on Advent readings that promise God’s final

act of salvation, it is important to hear these Scriptures in

their own time and place. Unfortunately, many Christians

have reduced “salvation” to assurance of a bless afterlife

with God, In the Bible, however, salvation clearly belongs

to this world as well. Biblical words normally translated as

“salvation” convey meaning of healing, wholeness, and

right relationships, all of which can and ought to begin on

this earth. And so Isaiah envisions salvation as healing of

the blind, deaf, mute, and lame which elicits songs of “Joy

and gladness.” Matthew, always eager to demonstrate that

Jesus completes all of Israel’s hopes, announces the begin-

ning of that fulfillment. Some who considered the Baptist

as God’s awaited Messiah question him on the matter, but

he rightly point to the one who makes Isaiah’s prophecy a

living reality. The hoped for new healing and wholeness

take shape before their eyes through one greater than his

messenger: Jesus the Messiah. Gods’ rule of salvation has

already began!

Lord Jesus, strengthen my trust in your word and my

hope in the saving power of your kingdom. Free me from

everything that would hold me back from pursuing your

kingdom and your will for my life

Reflexión del Evangelio:

Al reflexionar sobre las lecturas de Adviento que prometen el acto

final de salvación de Dios, es importante escuchar estas Escrituras en

su propio tiempo y lugar. Desafortunadamente, muchos cristianos han

reducido la "salvación" a la garantía de una bendita vida después de

la muerte con Dios. En la Biblia, sin embargo, la salvación también

pertenece claramente a este mundo. Las palabras bíblicas traducidas

normalmente como "salvación" transmiten el significado de la cura-

ción, la integridad y las relaciones correctas, todo lo cual puede y

debe comenzar en esta tierra. Y así, Isaías imagina la salvación como

la curación de los ciegos, sordos, mudos y cojos, que provoca cancio-

nes de "alegría". Mateo, siempre ansioso por demostrar que Jesús

completa todas las esperanzas de Israel, anuncia el comienzo de ese

cumplimiento. Algunos que consideraron al Bautista como el Mesías

esperado de Dios le preguntan sobre el asunto, pero él señala con

razón al que hace realidad la profecía de Isaías. Los que esperaban

uno más grande que su mensajero: Jesús el Mesías.

¡La regla de salvación de Dios ya ha comenzado!

Señor Jesús, fortalece mi confianza en tu palabra y mi esperanza

en el poder salvador de tu reino. Libérame de todo lo que me

impediría perseguir tu reino y tu voluntad para mi vida.

MINISTRY ASSIGNMENT

Some Words from the Pastor: This weekend we celebrate Gaudete Sunday.

We light the third candle of the advent wreathe

with the pink color that symbolizes joy;

Gaudete means joy. And yes, we are joyful

because the Lord is coming. The Good News

should bring joy and gladness in our hearts and in our homes.

Are we prepared to welcome the Joy of Christmas which is the

Joy of the Gospel, our Lord Jesus Christ? This past week was

full of grand celebrations. We celebrated the Feast of the

Immaculate Conception which was transferred on Monday. We

gave honor to Mary who was chosen by God to be the mother

of the Savior. She was free of the stain of original sin,

preparing her for the birth of the Lord.

We also celebrated the Feast of the Our Lady of Guadalupe. It

is a great feast, not just for the Mexicans and Hispanics, but for

all of us, since she is the patroness of the Americas. Our

brothers and sisters had prepared a very impressive altar for the

Virgen de Guadalupe inside the church. We had the procession

and mañanitas followed by the celebration of the Eucharist at

7:00 PM. These festivities have certainly brought joy to all of

us, as we gave our tribute to our Blessed Mother. As a mother,

she loves us and continues to pray for us.

While we do honor our Blessed Mother, this season, however,

will always be focused on Jesus, the Messiah who is to come.

Mary would always lead us to Jesus. Thus as we continue our

journey in this season of Advent, let us acknowledge the signs

that the Lord gives us. John the Baptist in the gospel was

asking if he, Jesus, was the Messiah, the one who is to come.

Jesus would tell John’s disciples to see the signs: the blind are

able to see, the lame are able to walk, the dumb-mute are able

to talk and hear, and other miracles. What do we see? Are we

waiting for miracles? The Lord is here. Let us continue to pray

Maranatha! Come Lord Jesus!

agents, flight attendants, trusted adults — they can ask for help.

Algunas Palabras Del Sacerdote: Este fin de semana celebramos el domingo

Gaudete. Encendemos la tercera vela de la

corona de adviento con el color rosa que

simboliza la alegría; Gaudete significa

alegría. Y sí, estamos alegres porque el

Señor viene. Las Buenas Nuevas deben traer alegría y

alegría en nuestros corazones y en nuestros hogares.

¿Estamos preparados para recibir la alegría de la

Navidad? Que es la alegría del Evangelio, nuestro Señor

Jesucristo. La semana pasada estuvo llena de grandes

celebraciones. Celebramos la Fiesta de la Inmaculada

Concepción, que se transfirió el lunes. Dimos honor a

María, quien fue elegida por Dios para ser la Madre del

Salvador. Ella estaba libre de la mancha del pecado

original, preparándola para el nacimiento del Señor.

También celebramos la fiesta de la Virgen de Guadalupe,

Es una gran fiesta. No solo para los mexicanos y los

hispanos, sino para todos nosotros, ya que ella es la

patrona de las Américas. Nuestros hermanos y hermanas

habían preparado un altar muy impresionante para la

Virgen de Guadalupe dentro de la iglesia. Tuvimos la

procesión y las mañanitas seguidas de la celebración de la

Eucaristía a las 7:00 PM. Estas festividades ciertamente

nos han traído alegría a todos, ya que rendimos homenaje

a nuestra Santísima Madre. Como madre, ella nos ama y

continúa orando por nosotros.

Si bien honramos a nuestra Santísima Madre, esta

temporada, sin embargo, siempre se centrará en Jesús, el

Mesías que está por venir. María siempre nos llevaría a

Jesús. Por lo tanto, a medida que continuamos nuestro

viaje en esta temporada de Adviento, reconozcamos las

señales que el Señor nos da. Juan el Bautista en el

evangelio preguntaba si él, Jesús, era el Mesías, el que

vendrá. Jesús les diría a los discípulos de Juan que vieran

las señales: los ciegos pueden ver, los cojos pueden
