CCD CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION St. Brigid Parish CCD students are having a Christmas Program THIS Sunday, December 15th, at Neumann Hall, at 11:30AM. (In the event of a snow storm, the Christmas Program will be held on Sunday, January 5th.) All parishioners are invited to attend and enjoy the program. Each family is asked to help with refreshments by providing either a food or drink item for brunch. Please plan to attend and celebrate this holy season with us.

CHRISTMAS GIFT CARDS AND FOOD PANTRY We have (13) area families ranging in size from 1 person to 5 people, on our list to receive FOOD CARDS for CHRISTMAS. If you know of anyone that needs help, please let us know by December 17th. Deadline for donations is December 17th. All donations for FOOD CARDS should be put in an envelope in the collection and marked “Attention Kay”. All donations are greatly appreciated. To date we have a total of $ 590.00 or $ 45.38 per family.

If you know of anyone who needs a CHRISTMAS FOOD BASKET, please call Rosalynd Perlick-Spencer (570-663-2212), as soon as possible. Right now there are 20 families on our list, but more may be added. Donations of food for the Food Pantry are also needed. Food donations can be left in the back of the Churches. Donations for ham or turkey would also be appreciated. Donations are needed by December 16th. (Check for the Food Baskets should be made out to “The Food Pantry”.)

Parish Lottery Calendars are available in the back of the Churches this weekend for Christmas gift giving. Again this year calendars are $ 20.00 each. They run from April 1st thru December 31st, 2014. Each family in our Parish is asked to take at least (5) calendars to sell. There are both packages of (5) calendars and loose (single) calendars available. (Please do not break up the packages.) You are asked to please sign the calendars out on the sign out sheet provided. Please help to make this very important fund raiser a success again this year! (If you asked for special numbers, they are in manila envelopes with your names on them in the back of the Church you usually attend.)

RETIREMENT FUND FOR RELIGIOUS ~ THANK YOU

Religious give thanks. “Thank you for accompanying us as we care for our elder sisters,” writes a religious superior. Your gift to last week’s collection for the Retirement Fund for Religious helps support nearly 34,000 sisters, brothers, and religious order priests past age 70. May God bless you abundantly for your goodness. Our collection total for St. Brigid Parish was $ 589.00. Thank you very much for your generosity.

THANK YOU ~ HOT CHOCOLATE COLLECTION Thank you to everyone who donated so generously to the collection of Hot Chocolate Mix for the Susquehanna County Christmas Bureau. We were able to collect over 250 boxes of mix to help low income families in Susquehanna County.

ADVENT/CHRISTMAS CONFESSIONS & PENANCE SERVICES Advent/Christmas Confessions at our Churches will be as usual on the weekends.

A Penance Service will be held THIS Sunday, December 15th at 2:00PM at St. Augustine Church. A Penance Service will be held Thursday, December 19th at 5:00PM at Holy Name of Mary Church, Montrose.

There will be two priests available for Confessions. These are wonderful opportunities to fulfill your Christmas obligation.

Fr. Gerald Buckley from Binghamton has offered to say the 10:30AM Mass at St. Augustine Church on Christmas Day. Fr. Cas will be saying the 4:30PM Christmas Eve Mass at St. Francis Church as well as the 8:00AM Christmas Day Mass at St. Francis Church.

CHOIR PRACTICE

Choir practice for Christmas will be held Tuesday evening, December 17th at 6:30PM in St. Francis Church. Please come join us and help make our Christmas Masses even more beautiful!

CHRISTMAS FLOWER ENVELOPES A reminder that Christmas Flower Donation Envelopes are in your envelope boxes. Space is provided on the back for memorials. These donations will help pay the cost of the poinsettias that will adorn our Churches this Christmas Season.

OPLATKI Oplatki is the Traditional Christmas Wafer shared at Christmas Eve. Packages are available in the vestibules of our Churches for our Parishioners use.

ALTAR & ROSARY NEWS St. Brigid Altar & Rosary Society is selling Rada knives as an on-going fund raiser. Orders can be placed with a member of the Altar & Rosary or can be placed on-line by going online to www.helpourfundraiser.com and use customer number 504671. The password is mrsa01pw. Do not use capital letters in the password. Orders are shipped usually with 2 days so there is still time to order for Christmas. It is suggested that Christmas orders be placed no later than December 18th.

STAR OF BETHLEHEM MOVIE STAR OF BETHLEHEM MOVIE will be shown at the Kopernik Observatory & Science Center, 698 Underwood Road, Vestal, on Friday, December 20th. This fascinating documentary unlocks the mystery of the Star of Bethlehem by relating scientific knowledge about astronomy and historical clues from the Bible. Doors open at 7:30PM and the movie begins at 8PM. Admission: $5.00 adults, $3.00 seniors/students, $16.00 family max, includes telescope viewing after movie (if clear).
