Years ago my wife and I decided to stop giving spare
change to those who asked. Instead we purchased
some $5 Gift Cards for Tim Horton’s. Now we carry
those around and when someone is in need, we give
them a card. It’s nice to know they will get a warm
meal and hot coffee instead of a few cold coins.
BTW – the cards get a much bigger thank you!

When I’m on public transit and I see someone in need,
like women with strollers and small children or the
elderly, I often lift up the seats to make room for
them to make their trip a little easier.
