“Chadwick has been president of Errázuriz since 1993, and has significantly expanded it’s overseas activities and it’s commitment to innovation. Viña Errázuriz was one of the first Chilean companies to plant on the slopes of the Andes, to plant Syrah in Aconcagua, and to use screw-caps to seal its estate wines. It’s pioneering joint venture Seña, with Mondavi, is now wholly owned by Errázuriz.
Along with Concha y Toro, which dominates Chilean wine from a quantity perspective, Errázuriz provides a quality benchmark.” Source: Decanter Magazine, July 2005.

Eduardo Chadwick’s success in the Berlin Tasting where Viñedo Chadwick 2000 and Seña 2001 were placed first and second before Lafite and Margaux 2000 was echoed at an event he held later in his home country, in which the same two wines preceded Lafite and Margaux
Wines to Lay Down by Steven Spurrier, Decanter magazine, July 2000
2001, followed by Don Maximiano 2001, Solaia 2000 and Sassicaia 2000. On the last day of my recent trip to Chile, I was able to taste a short vertical of the three Chadwick wines from barrel samples of 2003 back to 2001. In each case the 2003 stood out, with 2001 Viñedo Chadwick and Seña outpacing their 2002´s, the reverse for Don Maximiano. 2002´s cooler weather suited the Don Maximiano wines with their long hang-time on old, high elevation vines in the Aconcagua Valley.
Until 2001, the Don Maximiano bled had always been 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, but 2002 saw 5% Syrah
and 3% Merlot introduced and for the fabulous 2003, just 7% Syrah. It is evident the Syrah adds elements of concentration, spice and a little broadness. The 2001 is dense, plummy, but still shut in, the 2002 both richer, softer and more minty and the 2003 fleshily seductive with deep concentration and grip. Currently available in the U.K. is the 2000: dark colour, spicy, eucalyptus fruit, rich and succulent, meaty, ripe and still youthful.
For Eduardo Chadwick: “Don Max is great value; Viñedo Chadwick and Seña are proven first growth quality. This is our Cor or Pichon”.
