Dear Special Customer Groups 2015 well-wishes have already lost momentum. It still seems like a few days ago when eyes were glued to the clock as we eagerly and impatiently counted down the hours to minutes and eventually seconds before 2015. To most of us, the dawn of every New Year brings hope and the promise that the next 365 days or 366 in some rare cases, are going to be the very best ever. There are no prizes for guessing why we hold such an optimistic view we are hopeful human beings and inherently almost always believe that things which are yet to occur will be greater and more impactful than what we have already experienced in the past. Having recently reflected on 2014, and if history can be used as an accurate yardstick and predictor of days to come, we have more reasons to count on 2015 to be a better year. Mercedes-Benz South Africa had an astounding 2014. One almost wishes for the moment to be frozen and repeatedly relived. C-Class announced as a Car of the Year finalist

The Finalists for the 2015 WesBank / SAGMJ Car of the Year (COTY) competition were announced during a thrilling reveal event at the Inanda Polo Club in Johannesburg on Thursday, the 23rd of October.

Hosted by WesBank, the competition’s headline sponsor, the Finalist reveal follows a vote cast by a 29-member Jury from the South African Guild of Motoring Journalists (SAGMJ), of an original list of 40 Semi-finalists.

Mercedes-Benz achieves top spot in multiple categories

Mercedes-Benz has once again earned bragging rights when it was announced the winner in eight categories at the prestigious 4th annual Standard Bank People’s Wheels Awards which took place on the 13th of November at the Montecasino Ballroom in Fourways.

The People’s Wheel Awards is a survey conducted among South Africa’s motoring public and vehicle owners to determine brands which are deemed to offer the highest level of satisfaction. More than 60 000 votes were received for the 2015 People’s wheels awards.

Mercedes-Benz achieved top spot in the following eight categories:

Mercedes-Benz leading the way on social media

The advent of social media has changed the way we communicate. It has become an important tool for companies to connect with their customers and receive views and feedback on products and services rendered. Over the last few years, social media has taken centre stage as a prominent element of the communications mix, and companies have started employing dedicated resources such as Digital Media experts to manage and represent the company’s

profile on the various social media platforms. Mercedes-Benz is proud to be leading the way in the

premium sector by achieving 500 000 likes on

Facebook, giving it the largest following among local OEMs. In addition, it is among the top ten most-liked Facebook pages in South Africa. The company focuses on its engagement levels with its followers, rather than the number of followers and for the past two years has led the industry in terms of engagement, averaging 7% to the industry standard of 2.6%. Mercedes-Benz is also the leading OEM among subscribers on the video portal YouTube.

21 Icons Portrait of a Nation Exhibition

21 Icons, in conjunction with proud sponsor Mercedes Benz South Africa, presents an extensive indoor and outdoor exhibition: 21 Icons – Portraitof a Nation.

From the 18th of January until the 9th of March, the remarkable portraits from Adrian Steirn's 21 Icons project will be on display at the V&A Waterfront alongside the brand new Mercedes Benz C-Class. A visual celebration of the men and women who have changed South Africa for the better, the accompanying 21 Icons short films will also be screened regularly during this time at the V&A's Amphitheatre.

Like the 21 Icons Airport Activations and exhibitions before it, this exhibition encourages the public to

make use of the 21 Icons App, which features additional information about the project. This will provide a fully interactive experience - demonstrating the integrated, multimedia nature of the project.

Beaded Car dazzles at the 8th Bi-national Commission

Mercedes-Benz South Africa was the key sponsor for the South Africa – Germany Bi-National Commission as part of MBSA’s on-going commitment to its investment in the South African economy. The commission took place at the Department of International Relations and Co-operation (DIRCO) in November.

The Commission is a biennial bilateral consultation mechanism that co-ordinates and promotes the relations between South Africa and Germany. Discussions at the commission included the two country’s foreign, security, development co-operation, economic, science and technology policies.

The life-size beaded model of the W205 was on display for the duration of the event, symbolising the strong ties between Germany and South Africa and showcasing the fusion of German technology and South African artistry.

The beaded car was so much of a hit with the commission delegates that it made the front page of the Pretoria News!
