Dear Parishioners & other friends,

Parish Outing to Kilkenny???

The July magazine gave details of a possible parish outing to Kilkenny on a Saturday in September or October. The response has been disappointing and unless there is an increase in interest ,to justify booking a coach, the trip will not take place. So please if you are interested do get in touch with me. Plant and Garden Stall - Fete 2017

Last year, the stall holders running Plant and Garden Stall, were thrilled with the support of parishioners and customers alike. We were overwhelmed by the fantastic selection of plants, pots and general "bits and bobs" which were donated to the Stall. This year, we plan to make the Plant and Garden Stall even BIGGER and BETTER! But we need your help again:- We need our "green fingered" friends, to have a look around the garden and see whether there are any plants which could be propagated and shared with the Plant Stall. If there are plants which have "outgrown the flower beds", please pot them up and send them our way! Likewise, if there are houseplants which have outgrown the window sill, we can help find them a new home!

Terracotta pots - large & small, are always needed. In particular, the old fashioned terracotta pots which may be lurking under a shelf in the greenhouse or at the back of a garden shed.

We would like to try a new idea for Fete 2017:- Last year, one of our lovely supporters donated beautiful Dahlias to the Plant stall. They sold out within minutes! So this year, we plan to sell cut flower bouquets. Some of the flowers will come from my own garden but we would be delighted to receive donations of flowers from our support-ers too.

Contact me, Susan Stuart, at the number below, if you would like your favourite blooms to be included in the bouquets! I can come to your garden the day before the Fete and cut the flowers which you would like to share with us. But most of all, we need help on the day! To make the stall work efficiently, we need all hands on deck - green fingered or not!! Do you think that you would be able to share your time and knowledge with us? We'd love to have you with us! Looking forward to hearing from you! Susan Stuart Mobile 087 274 74 71 Email: [email protected]

COUNTRY FAYRE & AFTERNOON TEAS

A request to all those ladies and gentlemen who bake - we are appealing for your assis-tance in stocking our stalls for the Fete. The Country Fayre is always sold out quickly because of the demand for the delicious goodies you make and we look forward to your support again this year. Pizzas, pies, sausage rolls, savoury delights! scones, cakes, biscuits, apple pie, bracks, Meringues, etc etc

The Refreshment department also tempts people in for tea and coffee with cakes, biscuits, apple pie, bracks, so if you could pop some-thing extra in the oven for them - it would be appreciated by the hungry shoppers. Baked items can be collected if that would be convenient for you. You will find all the phone numbers on pages 6 & 7.

BAGS BAGS BAGS

Carrier bags, paper & plastic, are needed for the Fete. These can be left in to either of the halls the week before the Fete or put in the box in the church porch.

Thank you!

Dear Parishioners, Fete 2017 is approaching fast and many of you have been working hard over the past weeks, planning and preparing for the big day on 2nd September. Last month we published a list of appeals and details of the various stalls & attractions of Fete 2017. In case you have mislaid them, they are again in this Newsletter, including contact details. Here’s what we need to make our Fete successful :-

Donations of goods of all types – new and used but only in good condition please as it costs the Parish money to dispose of

broken items

Offers of help before, during and after the Fete

Raffle prizes & bottles

Sponsorship of some of our ever growing costs

Offers of locations where we can display some signs to publicise the Fete

Some dry, calm sunny weather. We are especially appealing to new members of the Parish to get involved and to join in this team effort. I have often said that the Fete is hard work but it is also a most enjoyable, social event that you will find very satisfying and rewarding. I can truly say that from personal experience. So please, please get involved, - don’t be shy – please give any Fete Committee member or stall manager a call with offers of help.

*********************************

Between Monday 28th August and Thursday 31st August only, from 7.00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m.

Adult Clothes, Children’s Clothes, Shoes, Bags, Hats, etc.

can be left at the Erck Hall

*********************************

White Elephant, Collector’s Corner, Books, Baby Equipment, Sports Goods, Home Entertainment, Toys,

Jewellery, Cosmetics, Soft Furnishings, etc.

can be left at the Burton Hall.

******************************** All other stalls, bottles, plants, sweets, cakes, jams, refreshments, etc., please contact the stall managers directly. We could do with many helping hands on these evenings so please consider giving a few hours during that week.

On Friday 1st September the Committee will be “setting up” Fete 2017 from 9.00 a.m. until dark and we would greatly welcome your assistance at any time during this busy day. Also on Saturday after the Fete closes at 4.00 pm. we would really appreciate help with the clearing up part of our venture and again on Sunday morning immediately after the 11.00 service. So please help us if you can during these times. It re-ally is a case of many hands etc…..! By now you have hopefully received our delivery of some Raffle tickets so don’t forget to complete the stubs and return them with your cash on Fete day. If you want more tickets (and we hope you will), please contact Sue Melbourne or Trish O’Neill or any Committee member. We are looking forward to providing an enjoyable and successful Fete with bargains, fun and entertainment for all and we hope to see you there on September 2nd. Finally, in advance of the Fete itself I would like to thank you for your support which I know will be forthcoming once more in 2017.
